7X and UAEV Power Up Electric Mobility with UAE-Wide Charging Network Initiative

3 min
7X and UAEV signed an agreement to enhance the UAE's electric vehicle charging network.
This partnership aims to support quicker EV adoption, aligning with the Net Zero 2050 goals.
The collaboration expands on smart-mobility tools and logistics network sustainability.
Both companies intend to improve EV accessibility for commuters and logistics services.
This initiative marks a step toward a sustainable transport future in the Emirates.
At GITEX Global 2025, a rather interesting collaboration took shape that could reshape the UAE’s electric mobility scene. The trade, transport, and logistics holding group 7X signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Emarat EV Charging Stations Company (UAEV) — the country’s first fully government-owned EV charging network. The move, in plain terms, is about building the backbone for cleaner transport and faster EV adoption across the Emirates.
From what’s been shared, the partnership focuses on planning and rolling out a nationwide EV charging network, making it easier for both private and commercial vehicles to plug in and keep moving. It’s also meant to dovetail neatly with the UAE’s drive toward a low-emission economy and its big-picture goals under the Net Zero 2050 Strategic Initiative. I reckon that’s quite spot on, especially since sustainable transport still feels like a bit of a faff when the necessary infrastructure hasn’t quite caught up with ambition.
Tariq Al Wahedi, Group CEO of 7X, said the partnership reinforces the company’s long-term strategy to cut emissions while bolstering the UAE’s global standing in logistics and green mobility. He described it as part of a broader vision: shifting toward eco-friendly fleets and digital service integration — including through the “Wayn” secure digital P.O. Box system, which enhances customer communications.
Meanwhile, UAEV’s CEO, Ali Al Darwish, pointed out that working with 7X marks a significant milestone for the firm’s mission to speed up EV adoption. By laying down chargers across 7X’s wide logistics network, UAEV expects to make electric mobility far more accessible — not just to city commuters but also to delivery firms and freight services that cover serious ground every day.
Both sides seem aligned on more than just cables and chargers. Their collaboration will branch into smart-mobility tools and parcel locker integration at stations, tackling convenience from multiple angles. On the flip side, they'll also look at how to embed sustainability deeper into logistics networks through 7X’s NXN and EMX arms.
For context, 7X sits under the Emirates Investment Authority umbrella, managing several national entities — from fintech player FINTX to Emirates Post itself. UAEV, for its part, launched in 2024 as a joint venture between Etihad Water and Electricity and the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, aiming to install more than 2,000 high-speed charging points by 2030.
Here at Arageek, we’re always chuffed to bits to see homegrown partnerships pushing for smarter, greener solutions. Having spent time around MENA startups trying to navigate sustainability goals, I know how challenging it can be to balance commercial pressure with genuine environmental impact. That said, a tie-up of this scale certainly gives the UAE’s EV ecosystem a much-needed jolt in the right direction — pun fully intended.
And while change rarely happens overnight, this looks like a strong step towards a cleaner, more connected transport future… one charge at a time. If I’m being candid, it’s high time we had fewer speeches about going green and more wheels quietly humming on electric power. The road ahead, I’d say, looks promissing.
