The FIX Innovation Awards boost South Korea as a global innovation leader.
Daegu once again proved why it’s often called South Korea’s beating heart of innovation. Just a day after the grand opening of the Future Innovation Tech Expo 2025 (FIX 2025), the city rolled out the red carpet for some of the most forward-thinking businesses in the game. On 23 October, EXCO buzzed with excitement as over a hundred guests — from Daegu’s Deputy Mayor for Economy, Sungjoo Hong, to top media and industry experts — came together for the FIX Innovation Awards ceremony.
Thirty companies walked away with trophies celebrating their trailblazing technologies, with nine taking home the sought-after Best of Innovation titles. The lineup was impressive. In the future mobility field, Autonomous A2Z drew attention for ROii, a Level 4 self-driving vehicle that’s about as futuristic as it sounds. HL Robotics wowed attendees with PARKY, its autonomous parking robot solution, while Hanwha Corporation’s E&C Division unveiled EV Air Station — a ceiling-mounted EV charger that looks like something out of a sci-fi flick. Meanwhile, THN caught eyes with Flexclear, a transparent 5.6G antenna system that hints at what our smart cities could soon look like.
The robotics category was no less thrilling. IMsystem earned recognition for a micro medical robot nimble enough to operate inside blood vessels, a game changer for vascualr interventions.
Mobinnshowcased a road safety control robot that taps into semi-autonomous driving tech — clever stuff. Then there was A4LAB, whose surgical navigation system, XAVE AIR, sharpens surgical precision, and Withforce, pushing agricultural automation with a rather cool wearable farming robot dubbed A10.
And let’s not forget Meissa, honoured in the ICT corner for using drones and AI to create digital twins of industrial sites. It’s tech that lets decision-makers see problems before they happen — pretty spot on, if you ask me.
Now in just its second year, the FIX Innovation Awards are already gaining serious credibility. Roughly a quarter of this year’s winners had previously bagged global honours like the CES Innovation Awards — no small feat. As I see it, that’s proof South Korean innovators aren’t just keeping pace; they’re setting trends the rest of the world’s eager to follow.
On a more practical note, winners won’t just get shiny plaques for their efforts. They’ll also receive business consulting from **iM Bank**, opportunities to pitch and network with venture capitalists courtesy of the **Korea Credit Guarantee Fund**, extra perks through Plug and Play’s partnership programs, and discounts to appear at next year’s FIX. Not to mention support in connecting with potential buyers and boosting promotion — all the little things that can turn a great idea into a thriving business. And believe it or not, those perks can be a real game-changer for startups trying to scale fast.
Deputy Mayor Hong summed it up neatly during his remarks, noting how this year’s awards cemented FIX as a discovery platform for future technologies. He expressed hope the winners would use this momentum to spread their wings both at home and abroad — and that visitors could quite literally experience the future of innovation through the exhibits on show.
At Arageek, we’ve seen how these regional events often light fires that later roar into global success. Watching Daegu champion innovation like this… well, it’s hard not to feel chuffed to bits for what’s coming next.
