Founders get hands-on help, from “testing ideas” to building minimum viable products.

Hub71 is strengthening pre-seed support with investors, corporates and later-stage growth routes.

The move follows Abu Dhabi’s rise into the top 50 emerging startup ecosystems.

Abu Dhabi is adding another piece to its startup puzzle, with Disrupt.com joining Hub71’s Initiate Programme to back very early-stage AI founders from the UAE capital. The MENA-based venture builder plans to set up an operating presence at Hub71, where it will work with founders on the nuts and bolts of company creation — from testing ideas to building minimum viable products and chasing that often-elusive product-market fit.

It sounds simple on paper, but anyone around startups in the region knows this stage can be a bit of a faff. A founder may have a strong idea, but turning it into something customers actually want is another game entirely. At Arageek, we’ve seen again and again that the earliest steps are where things either click or quietly fall apart. That is why this sort of hands-on model stands out, I reckon.

Under the programme, founders will work directly with Disrupt’s operating teams rather than only getting advice from a distance. The idea is to help them validate concepts, build products ready for market and scale AI-native startups from Abu Dhabi. At the same time, they will also tap into Hub71’s broader network, including investors, corporates, government entities and ecosystem partners, with a route into later-stage support such as the Access Programme as ventures grow.

Disrupt.com describes itself as an operator-led, AI-native venture builder, and that operator-led bit matters. Instead of stopping at funding or mentorship, the model puts experienced operators inside startups from the earliest stage. In plain words, founders are not left to muddle through alone. They get practical support from people who have already built businesses and know where the potholes are.

Ali Samir Oosman, SVP of Strategy, Partnerships & Investments at Disrupt.com, said the problem for many founders is the familiar loop where they are told to raise capital, while investors ask them to come back with more traction. He said the better answer is often finding the right co-founder, adding that Initiate gives Disrupt.com the space to support ventures from ideation across the full company lifecycle with what he called its playbooks, leadership and operators from day one. He also pointed to Abu Dhabi’s ecosystem as a draw for strong founders and said the company wants to build alongside them from there.

That said, Hub71 is also using the partnership to deepen what it offers at the pre-seed stage. Basma AlBadi AlDhaheri, Head of Strategy and Value Creation at Hub71, said building a successful company depends on having the right expertise at the right moment. She said bringing in venture builders such as Disrupt.com expands the support available through the Initiate Programme and helps founders create scalable, globally competitive tech ventures from Abu Dhabi.

The timing is not random. The announcement comes after Abu Dhabi broke into the world’s top 50 emerging startup ecosystems in the 2026 Global Startup Ecosystem Report by Startup Genome and the Global Entrepreneurship Network. Even more eye-catching, the ecosystem’s value reportedly jumped by 3,057% to $73.4 billion. That is no small feat, and believe it or not, these league tables do influence where founders, investors and operators choose to place their bets.

Disrupt.com is arriving with a portfolio that gives some clue about the sectors it wants to shape. The company says it has experience building AI-native ventures across fintech, cybersecurity, privacy and real assets, and it namechecks SQUATWOLF, Secure.com, Ridge, PureSquare and ZIGChain among the businesses it has helped build. On the flip side, I’m not a fan of startup announcements that lean too much on buzzwords, well... I mean, “AI-native” gets thrown around quite a lot these days. But if the team can help founders move from raw concept to real product faster, that would be spot on.

For Abu Dhabi, the bigger story is about infrastructure, not just one partnership. Hub71, backed by the Government of Abu Dhabi and Mubadala Investment Company, has been positioning itself as a global tech ecosystem with access to capital, partners, talent and regulation designed to help startups scale. Now it is adding more operator support at the earliest stage, which could prove just as valuable as funding. And for founders in MENA watching closely — the sort Arageek readers know well — that will be the interesting bit to watch in the months ahead, becuase early execution is usually where the real game begins.
