Seven Palestinian startups won EU-backed grants to scale amid economic strain.
Funding of up to €18,000 targets product upgrades, teams and regional reach.
SPARK aims to bridge “idea to commercially viable business” sustainably.
Startups span edtech, agritech, logistics and sustainability, expanding beyond local markets.
Grants won’t fix structural hurdles but offer crucial early-stage momentum.
Seven Palestinian startups have secured fresh backing under the European Union-funded “From Innovation to Creation” programme, implemented by SPARK, in a move aimed at helping early-stage tech ventures scale despite mounting economic strain.
In total, seven companies were selected to receive grants ranging from €14,995 to €18,000. The funding is earmarked for product development, infrastructure upgrades, team expansion and opening doors to regional markets, areas that, in Palestine, are often easier said than done.
I’ve spoken to enough founders across MENA through Arageek’s ecosystem to know that early traction is usually the easy part. Scaling? That’s where things get tricky. Access to capital, reliable infrastructure and cross-border exposure can be a bit of a faff even in stable environments. In fragile ones, it can feel almost out of reach.
That’s why this programme matters.
Unlike short-term relief initiatives, SPARK’s approach leans towards long-term sustainability. The focus is on helping startups bridge the gap between a promising idea and a commercially viable business that can compete beyond its home market. And believe it or not, Palestinian founders have been doing just that across sectors from edtech and agritech to logistics, sustainability and digital platforms.
Among the selected startups, Jusoor Labs secured the top grant of €18,000 to expand access to safe STEM learning experiences, working to strengthen science education infrastructure locally. Flowless received €17,000 to enhance its sustainable water management solutions and sharpen its marketing efforts as it explores new markets.
Beauty-tech platform Salon was awarded €15,000 to accelerate its expansion and bolster its commercial presence. Agritopia Innovations is using its funding to upgrade product development tools and boost technical capacity within the agricultural innovation space. Logistics startup Olivery also secured €15,000, aimed at reinforcing internal operations and improving delivery infrastructure.
Turqat received support centred on long-term operational sustainability, while Kindiplus was granted €14,995 to navigate a critical growth phase and tackle ongoing operational challenges.
For many of these founders, the funding arrives at a time of heightened economic and political pressure. Capital is scarce. International exposure is limited. Yet the appetite to build, and to keep building, remains spot on.
SPARK, which operates in fragile and conflict-affected regions, has indicated that the programme is designed not just to inject cash, but to create pathways for sustainable economic participation and deeper regional integration. In other words, it’s about helping startups become scalable regional players, not isolated local ventures.
On the flip side, grants of up to €18,000 won’t magically solve structural hurdles. I reckon long-term ecosystem growth will still depend on consistent policy support, stronger cross-border networks and follow-on investment. But as catalytic funding at a delicate stage, it can make a real difference, sometimes the difference between momentum and stagnation.
Across emerging markets, access to early growth capital is becoming fiercely competetive. For founders operating in high-friction environments, programmes like “From Innovation to Creation” are not just helpful; they are essential infrastructure.
And if there’s one thing we keep seeing across MENA, it’s this: when given even a modest runway, entrepreneurs will find a way to take off.
