Fakeeh Health launches AI-enabled “Smart Clinics” across UAE malls, offices and communities.

Patients enter medical capsules for “hospital-grade care” linked to licensed doctors.

AI assistant AISHA supports workflows, while clinicians retain full medical responsibility.

System integrates records, referrals and the full patient journey, from insurance to delivery.

Success hinges on trust and adoption as Dubai pushes digital healthcare forward.

Fakeeh Health is stepping deeper into the future of care in the UAE, with the launch of a network of AI-enabled Smart Clinics designed to bring hospital-grade services closer to where people actually are, in malls, offices and residential communities. It’s a move that neatly ties into Dubai’s wider ambition to build a digitally driven, patient-centred healthcare system.

The first hybrid Smart Clinic has already opened at JAFZA, and more sites are expected to roll out in phases across the country. The idea is simple, at least on paper: instead of travelling to a large hospital for every consultation, patients can step into a fully equipped medical capsule and connect virtually with licensed physicians from Fakeeh Health.

Inside these “smart” capsules, patients are supported by multidisciplinary teams and real-time monitoring of vital signs. The system is also fully integrated with Fakeeh Health’s electronic medical records. If a case requires in-person treatment, there are clear referral pathways to escalate care to Fakeeh University Hospital. In other words, it’s not meant to replace traditional hospitals, but to complement them — and that distinction matters.

From what has been shared, each consultation is clinically governed, with medical decisions remaining firmly in the hands of licensed doctors. AI plays a supporting role rather than taking the driver’s seat. A tool called AISHA, an AI-powered health assistant, is designed to streamline workflows, guide patients through their appointments and improve operational efficiency. But the responsibility, Fakeeh Health stresses, sits with clinicians.

Dr Mohaymen Abdelghany, Group CEO of Fakeeh Health UAE and CEO of Fakeeh University Hospital, said the initiative extends “physician-led, hospital-grade care into the community” while aligning with Dubai’s digital healthcare ambitions. He added that integrating real-time clinical data with strong governance frameworks allows the group to expand access without compromising patient safety or quality of care.

And believe it or not, the company is also managing the full patient journey behind the scenes — from insurance verification and appointment booking to prescription issuance and even home delivery of medication. It’s meant to remove what many of us would call a bit of a faff from healthcare. I’ve spoken to founders across the MENA region who say navigating appointments and insurers can feel like running a marathon before you even see a doctor, so this kind of integration could be spot on if executed well.

That said, the true test will be adoption. Will patients trust a capsule in a shopping centre as much as a traditional clinic? On the flip side, in a region where digital banking and government services have leapt ahead quickly, healthcare going the same way was perhaps only a matter of time.

From an entrepreneurship perspective — and this is something we often discuss at Arageek — the healthtech space in the Gulf is definately heating up. The combination of AI, infrastructure investment and government-backed digital strategies is creating fertile ground for innovation. I reckon initiatives like this one show how established healthcare groups are trying to stay ahead of the curve, rather than waiting for startups to disrupt them.

It’s early days for Fakeeh Health’s Smart Clinics, but the direction is clear. Healthcare is moving beyond hospital walls. Whether this model becomes mainstream or remains a niche convenience, well… that will depend on how seamlessly technology, trust and clinical rigour come together. For now, it signals another step in Dubai’s ongoing push to make digital transformation more than just a buzzword.
