Replit has bought Egypt-founded Atta, pushing beyond coding into business data exploration.
Users can upload datasets in Replit chat and ask questions or build visualisations.
The aim is to avoid SQL and separate tools, bringing analysis together.

The integration is live already, with plans to support presentations and daily decisions.
Replit, the US-based AI coding platform, has acquired Atta, an Egypt-founded startup focused on AI-powered business analysis, in a move that nudges the company beyond software building and deeper into data exploration.
The first piece of the deal is already up and running inside Replit chat. Users can now upload a dataset or connect a data source, then ask Replit Agent to dig into a question or build a visualisation. In plain terms, it means business teams can explore company data without writing SQL or hopping between separate analytics tools, which, frankly, can be a bit of a faff.
Atta was built around a similar idea. Its tools were designed to help teams track KPI changes, model revenue scenarios, and examine issues like pricing and retention using AI. That made it a pretty natural fit for Replit, which is trying to bring coding, analysis and visual outputs into one place rather than scattering them across different workflows.
According to the details shared around the acquisition, the system can also choose chart formats depending on the task. So if a team wants to understand revenue shifts, it may generate a waterfall chart; if the question is about retention patterns, a heatmap might be used instead. It sounds simple on paper, but that kind of automatic chart selection is often where analytics platforms either shine or fall flat.
Omar Shaik and Amine Ben Khalifa, Atta’s co-founders, are also joining Replit as part of the acquisition. Their arrival matters, I reckon, because these deals are rarely just about product features. They are also about the people who built the logic behind them, the little decisions that make a tool feel spot on for actual teams instead of just looking clever in a demo.
For now, the rollout is centred on interactive analysis and charting inside Replit chat. Longer term, the company says it wants analysis to become part of an ongoing workflow that feeds into presentations, internal tools and day-to-day operational decisions. On the flip side, that is also the tricky bit — plenty of platforms promise a seamless bridge from data to action, and not all of them manage it.
Still, for readers who follow MENA startups on Arageek, this one lands nicely. It is always chuffed to bits moment, well… I mean, when a founder story that starts in the region ends up shaping a global product roadmap. And believe it or not, the detail that stands out most is not just the acquisition itself, but the fact that the integration is live already. In startup land, that’s nothng to sneeze at.
