Service My Car and PlusX Electric Simplify UAE’s Hybrid Car Ownership

UAE households increasingly run an EV for commuting and petrol for road trips.
Service My Car partners PlusX Electric for the “ICV-EV combo” phase.
They aim to unite servicing and charging in one connected ecosystem.
The move supports hybrids in behaviour, as EV confidence grows.
Innovation here means “connecting the dots”, not reinventing the wheel.
In the UAE, owning two cars is no longer unusual. In fact, for many households it is slowly becoming the norm: one electric vehicle for the city commute and a petrol or diesel car for longer road trips. It sounds practical and it is, but managing both can sometimes be a bit of a faff.
That shift in behaviour is exactly what sits behind a new partnership between Dubai-based Service My Car and PlusX Electric. Service My Car, the digital automotive platform powered by Bhawan Group, has teamed up with EV charging specialist PlusX Electric to support what some are calling the “ICV-EV combo” phase of mobility in the country.
Electric vehicle adoption in the UAE has picked up pace over the past few years. Yet many drivers are not fully switching; instead, they are adding an EV as a second car while holding on to their internal combustion vehicle for flexibility and long-distance drives. On the flip side, this creates a small headache, two systems, two types of maintenance, two different support networks.
The idea behind this collaboration is straightforward: bring servicing and charging under one broader ecosystem. Service My Car already offers a digital-first experience that covers online booking, vehicle pick-up and delivery, RTA passing, detailing, insurance, vehicle evaluations and history reports. By integrating PlusX Electric’s EV charging solutions into its platform, it is expanding beyond traditional car care and stepping firmly into the electric space.
Prem Anandkumar N, Business Head at Service My Car, said the partnership reflects how vehicle ownership in the UAE is evolving. He noted that many customers now manage both EVs and traditional cars and are looking for a solution that supports both in a quick and connected way. By incorporating charging capabilities into its system, the company aims to make ownership “simpler, smarter, and more connected than ever before,” he said.
There are also plans for joint awareness campaigns and integrated services to make EV ownership easier to navigate. And believe it or not, that awareness piece matters just as much as the tech. I’ve met founders across the MENA region who say the challenge isn’t always the product, it’s helping people understand how to use it confidently. At Arageek, we often see startups thrive when they focus on that education side, not just the shiny features.
What strikes me as spot on here is the timing. The UAE has been serious about sustainable mobility targets, charging infrastructure is expanding, and consumer confidence in EVs is growing. I reckon we are entering a stage where the conversation is no longer “EV or petrol?” but “how do I manage both without losing my weekend?”. Well… that’s progress in its own way.
Service My Car has been positioning itself as a digital layer over the traditional automotive maintenance journey, trying to make it seamless and convenient. Through this move, it is betting that the future of car ownership in the UAE will be hybrid in behaviour, even if not always hybrid in engine type.
For dual-vehicle households, having servicing and charging aligned could definately make day-to-day life simpler. And for the wider startup ecosystem in the region, it is another reminder that innovation does not always mean inventing something new from scratch. Sometimes, it is about connecting the dots better than anyone else.
