3D Engineering is heading to LEAP 2026 in Riyadh with HelmX, an industrial field-intelligence platform built to make routine site walks far more useful than the usual stack of scattered photos, notes and reports. The Latvia-based company, known as a digital-twin and industrial digitalisation partner to bp, plans to showcase the technology during the event, which runs from 31 August to 3 September at the Riyadh Exhibition & Convention Centre in Malham.
At its core, HelmX is designed for complex industrial sites, where teams are already drowning in data but still struggle to find information that is current, structured and tied to the right asset. The system captures 360-degree visual, spatial and contextual data during normal field activity, then turns that into structured, time-stamped asset intelligence. In simple words, the helmet does the data capture, while the wider platform does the heavy lifting: updating digital twins, flagging corrosion or anomalies, supporting asset-integrity work, automating field reporting and even producing datasets that can help train industrial robotics.
Reinis Tocelovskis, founder and chief executive of 3D Engineering and HelmX, said industrial sites do not lack data, but rather data that is properly organised and connected to the correct asset. He said the company built HelmX so that every field walk can become a repeatable source of industrial intelligence, with the helmet recording what is happening and the platform showing where it happened, what changed and what needs attention.
One of the more interesting parts here is the proprietary Visual Positioning System, or VPS. That is the bit that allows HelmX to work in GPS-denied environments such as enclosed plants and process-heavy industrial sites. Instead of leaving teams to manually piece together where an image or reading came from — a bit of a faff, frankly — the VPS places field observations, tags, reports, anomalies and compatible third-party sensor readings directly onto the correct asset in a 3D environment. I reckon that detail is what gives the platform its edge, because in industrial operations context is half the battle.
That matters because traditional workflows often leave valuable inspection data trapped in folders or buried in reports, far away from the physical asset it describes. HelmX tries to fix that by linking those records to a precise 3D location, so teams can actually use the information straight away rather than spending time rebuilding the scene afterwards. And believe it or not, that missing link between field activity and usable intelligence is still a headache across many heavy industries.
The company also positions HelmX as a continuous update layer between dedicated survey or scanning campaigns. Rather than waiting for periodic scans, operators can capture changes during ordinary inspection, maintenance and operations rounds. That means teams can compare conditions over time, support integrity assessments and keep a traceable record from the field. Compatible third-party sensors can also feed into the same spatial layer, which opens the door for industrial robotics training data too. Saudi Arabia is a natural stage for that pitch. Tocelovskis said Saudi Arabia is moving quickly in industrial digitalisation and intelligent infrastructure, adding that LEAP brings together technology, industry, government and capital in one place. He said 3D Engineering wants to work with partners ready to take field AI beyond demos and into repeatable operational value.
During LEAP 2026, the team will be available to discuss pilot deployments, VPS integration, third-party sensor data and possible cooperation in Saudi Arabia and the wider GCC. 3D Engineering says its background includes 3D laser scanning, 3D modelling, digital twins and asset-integrity solutions for energy and infrastructure operators, with project experience involving bp and other major industrial clients. HelmX, in that sense, looks like the company’s attempt to close the gap between everyday fieldwork and decision-ready intelligence — and that is definately a space worth watching.
