Antler MENAP LP received $3 million from ISSF to support Jordanian startups.

With a $60 million fund, they aim to boost early-stage investments across the region.

Antler's global reach and expertise promise significant growth for Jordan's entrepreneurial scene.

The partnership aims to transform ideas into successful, scalable businesses with robust support.

Jordan's startup ecosystem is buzzing with anticipation for this promising collaboration.

It seems the Jordanian startup ecosystem has something rather exciting brewing these days. Antler MENAP LP, a venture capital fund concentrating on early-stage investments in the Middle East and North Africa, has just secured a cool $3 million from the Innovative Startups and SMEs Fund (ISSF)—the largest investment fund of its kind in Jordan.

Antler MENAP LP has a wider vision: the fund—which totals some $60 million—is looking to provide seed and Series A funding to promising startups across the region. Originally founded in Singapore, Antler is known globally as one of the busiest players when it comes to investing right at the very start—what savvy investors casually refer to as "Day Zero" investment. Picture backing promising founders when their startups are little more than ideas on paper—that's precisely Antler’s speciality.

It isn't their first rodeo, either. Antler currently runs over fifteen pre-seed funds dotted across 27 cities worldwide, having already put money into more than 1,500 budding startups around the globe. That's no mean feat.

Mohammed Al Muhtaseb, CEO of ISSF, expressed high hopes about this collaboration, highlighting the shared commitment both funds have when it comes to advancing Jordan's entrepreneurial scene. He pointed to the considerable untapped potential he sees in Jordanian entrepreneuers, and the growing recognition of Jordan as a regional hotspot for innovation.

"This partnership with Antler underscores our mutual commitment towards supporting Jordan’s entrepreneurial ecosystem," said Al Muhtaseb. "With the help of Antler’s specialised programme tailored specifically for Jordan, our aim is to provide not only funding, but also the infrastructure and global networks necessary to help ideas flourish into successful, scalable businesses."

Personally, I’ve always been impressed by stories of startups making it big through initiatives like these—it reminds me a bit of tasting mansaf for the first time; there's genuine depth and flavour, if you're brave enough to dive straight in.

According to Al Muhtaseb, the real benefit here is Antler’s deep expertise and their wide-ranging international network, both of which can be absolute game-changers for Jordanian startups.

The hope is that this partnership will nurture a new generation of entrepreneural talent able to compete at a regional, if not global, level. Exciting days ahead for Arageek readers following the startup hustle in Jordan closely, that’s for sure!
