Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Saudi firm Humain have unveiled plans for a strategic partnership worth over $5 billion, aiming to launch a cutting-edge artificial intelligence zone within Saudi Arabia. This new initiative is set to boost the Kingdom's standing as a global leader in the rapidly developing AI sector.
This ambitious AI zone will feature an advanced AWS infrastructure, paired with world-class semiconductor technology and UltraCluster networks designed for super-fast training and inference. According to reports, the facility will also utilise specialist tools like SageMaker, Bedrock and the Amazon Q platform, providing advanced services to clients across the country.
This collaboration is built upon AWS's previously announced $5.3 billion infrastructure region in Saudi, set to launch by 2026, reflecting Amazon's long-standing commitment to expanding their global tech offerings within the Kingdom.
As part of the deal, Humain will leverage AWS's cutting-edge AI technology to develop tailored artificial intelligence solutions, catering to various customer needs. Together, the two companies aim to launch a unified marketplace, making it simpler for government bodies in Saudi Arabia to access, implement, and manage their AI software efficiently.
Reflecting on the project, Saudi Arabia's Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Abdullah Al-Swaha, expressed gratitude towards AWS for intensifying its long-term partnership with the country. He highlighted how this new collaboration will facilitate advancements, nurture local talent, and cement the Kingdom's positon as a key global AI collaborator.
AWS and Humain are also looking to energise Saudi Arabia's startup ecosystem by providing businesses access to one of the most comprehensive collections of cloud technologies and startup programmes—such as AWS Activate—assisting local entrepreneurs keen to scale their ventures.
It's an exciting time indeed—AI is undoubtedly reshaping industries globally, and just maybe (as our friends at Arageek might quip), Saudi Arabia is gearing up to become the region's tech hotspot, serving up groundbreaking innovation much like a perfectly blended cup of karak.
