Huawei Cloud gathered more than 150 partners in Riyadh this week, turning the InterContinental into a hive of conversation about where Saudi Arabia’s cloud ambitions are heading next. The gathering — a partner day mixed with a recruitment and appreciation gala — underlined just how quickly the company has built one of the Kingdom’s fastest‑growing cloud ecosystems. And believe it or not, several attendees remarked that the pace hasn’t shown any signs of slowing.
What stood out to me was how much the day revolved around long-term collaboration rather than flashy product demos. I’ve seen similar events across the region through Arageek’s lens, and they can sometimes feel like a bit of a faff. This one, though, leaned heavily on shared growth and what that means for Saudi Arabia’s wider digital transformation push. Huawei Cloud’s local chief, Lawrence Liu, put it plainly when he said partners are the “cornerstone” of the company’s progress in the Kingdom. He emphasised investment, incentives and the sort of backing that helps partners bring real value to customers — nothing particularly surprising, but spot on given the current momentum in the market.
Throughout the sessions, the company laid out updates to its ecosystem strategy, touching on continued investment and what it calls “partner-focused policies”. I reckon the key takeaway was scalability — the kind that lets smaller partners move quickly while giving larger ones enough room to build sustainable businesses. Yong Hu, who leads partner development, spoke about how the ecosystem has matured over the past year and how tight collaboration has helped create more differentiated solutions. That said, growth in this space is never linear, and one partner quietly joked to me that keeping pace with customer expectations can feel like chasing a moving target.
Several partners shared real-world examples. Points Information Technology showed off a live AI-powered avatar, created using Huawei’s AI tools, which apparently opened new doors for them commercially. Raqmeyat discussed its digital marketing playbook and how it helped with demand generation — a detail some founders in the room seemed particularly curious about, you know? Ejada Systems Company, MDS for Computer Systems, BTC (Baud Telecom Company), and NAS Solutions also talked through their latest milestones, giving the room a sense of just how diverse the ecosystem has become.
Recognition was a big part of the evening too. More than 15 partners walked away with awards, with BTC named Outstanding Growth Partner and both MDS and Ejada Systems Company winning Outstanding Revenue Partner for their contributions. Everyone seemed chuffed to bits, even if the applause occasionally stretched a bit longer than necessary — gala energy tends to do that.
On the flip side, while Huawei Cloud continues to cement itself as a trusted player in Saudi Arabia’s cloud scene, the company still faces strong competition from global rivals. But the expanding partner network, combined with a clear focus on innovation and enablement, suggests the momentum is definately in its favour for now.
For anyone following the Kingdom’s digital shift, gatherings like this give a small but telling snapshot of how industries are adapting. And from what I saw, Huawei Cloud’s partners seem more aligned — and more ambitious — than ever.
