Orange and Botim Unveil Instant Wallet Transfers Connecting UAE to Egypt

Botim users in the UAE can send money to Orange Cash wallets in Egypt, anytime.
Recipients can spend, transfer or cash out through over 300,000 points nationwide.
The tie-up links a major remittance corridor with the wallet people already prefer.
Botim says smoother transfers and "real-time recipient validation" should cut errors.
The move reflects a crowded market chasing less friction and better local fit.
Sending money home is still a huge part of daily life for many Egyptians in the UAE, and, honestly, any tool that makes that process less of a faff tends to get attention quite fast. This week, Orange Egypt and UAE fintech platform Botim moved in that direction, launching a service that lets Botim users in the UAE transfer money directly to Orange Cash wallets in Egypt, 24 hours a day.
The setup is fairly straightforward. People in the UAE can start the transfer through Botim, and the recipient in Egypt gets the funds straight into an Orange Cash wallet. From there, the money can be used for transfers, payments and purchases, or simply taken out in cash. That matters more than it may sound at first glance, because convenience in remittances often comes down to what happens after the money arrives, not just how fast it lands.
Orange Egypt said Orange Cash users can cash out through more than 300,000 points across the country, including Orange shops, ATMs and authorised retailers. In a market like Egypt, that kind of physical reach is spot on. Digital wallets are growing fast, yes, but access points in neighbourhoods and smaller areas still make a real difference.
The partnership is Botim’s first with a mobile operator in Egypt, which gives the deal a bit of extra weight. Egypt is already one of Botim’s five biggest international remittance corridors, and the platform says it has more than two million Egyptian users. Orange Cash, on the other hand, has around 10 million users, while Orange Egypt serves more than 30 million customers nationwide. Put together, those numbers show why both sides would see value here.
The tie-up also fits into Botim’s broader push to link digital wallet networks across borders, so UAE-based users can send money directly into the wallet their recipient already prefers. And believe it or not, that point is often underestimated. I’ve seen founders across the MENA region talk endlessly about financial inclusion, but if a product does not match how people already move money in real life, it can all fall flat, you know?
There is another layer in the background too. Botim is also working through wider infrastructure partnerships, plugging its UAE remittance network into global payment rails with real-time recipient validation. That should help make transfers smoother and reduce errors, which is chuffed to bits for users who simply want the money to arrive without drama. The company is also looking beyond this corridor, with plans tied to international expansion, more work on its AI platform and growth of its engineering team.
On the flip side, competition in cross-border payments is getting crowded, and plenty of players are trying to make similar promises around speed, reach and lower friction. Still, I reckon direct wallet-to-wallet remittances between the UAE and Egypt make good sense, especially when Egypt remains one of the region’s key remittance destinations. Africa’s inflows were estimated at $96.4 billion in 2024, after all, so this is not exactly a small game.
For Arageek readers who follow the startup and fintech beat, this is the kind of move that says a lot about where the market is heading. Less friction, more localisation, and products built around habits people already have. It’s not flashy, well… I mean, it doesn’t need to be. But it may definately prove useful for thousands of users moving money between the two countries.
