Qatari startup **EMMA Systems** has secured a seed investment round led by Plus VC, with participation from two angel investors. The company, which operates an AI-powered SaaS platform helping airports and airlines unify and analyse operational data in real time, plans to use the funding to fine‑tune its technology, expand its product suite, and boost its global reach.
Founded by aviation veterans **Wisam Qustandi** and **Mohammad Hourani**, EMMA Systems was born out of frustration with the inefficiencies they saw day in and day out in airport operations. Both had first-hand experience of how slow data sharing and traditional coordination could cause unnecessary delays. I remember chatting with a few founders in Doha not long ago who faced similar bottlenecks—honestly, managing airport logistics sounds like a bit of a faff unless you’ve got the right tech in place.
EMMA aims to shift the sector from a reactive mindset to a proactive one. Its unified interface connects different operational stakeholders, using artificial intelligence to streamline communication, reduce delays, and maximise airport capacity without expanding physical infrastructure. The company’s suite of solutions spans **Airport Collaborative Decision Making (A‑CDM)**, **Airside Operations Management System (AOMS)**, and **Turnaround Management System (TMS)**—with plans to roll out a **Total Airport Management (TAM)** system further down the line.
I reckon what makes EMMA’s approach rather spot on is that it’s tackling a global headache for the aviation world while staying firmly rooted in Gulf innovation. And believe it or not, the MENA region’s appetite for smart aviation tech is growing faster than many expected.
On the flip side, scaling such solutions globally isn’t going to be a walk in the park—integrating with legacy airport systems can be, well… messy. But if EMMA manages to keep its momentum, this seed round could mark an early take‑off toward becoming a key regional—and maybe even international—player in airport intelligence.
At Arageek, we’ve always been chuffed to bits seeing MENA startups taking on global problems with smart, data‑driven solutions. EMMA’s journey feels like one of those stories we’ll be revisiting down the road. Their mission to make air transport smarter and more sustainable is, quite frankly, the kind of ambition the region needs right now—definately one to watch.
