Saudi tech start-up ?STUCK has successfully closed a pre-seed funding round, landing a significant six-figure investment aimed at tackling linguistic and cultural gaps across the Arabic-speaking world. Led by the UK-based Mena Tech Fund (MTF), this funding marks MTF's first foray into the Saudi market, signalling growing confidence in the kingdom's burgeoning tech scene.

Joining MTF, KAUST Innovation Fund and some seasoned Saudi angel investors also backed the round—including Maha Taibah, the founder of "Rumman," and Basma Bushnaq, former CEO at Emkan Education, now part of PwC, as well as other notable contributors from the IQAL investor group. It’s fair to say ?STUCK isn't short of influential believers now.

You might naturally assume ?STUCK is just another translation or content-generation tool, but the platform aims to be much more nuanced. By blending artificial intelligence with human expertise, it promises linguistically precise and culturally authentic Arabic and English content. The service cleverly combines machine efficiency and that invaluable human touch, recognising the rich tapestry of dialects and local contexts that matter hugely across the MENA region.

Unusually, ?STUCK enables businesses to finely tweak the balance of human and machine input, offering three separate modes—pure AI, human only, or an ideal combination of both—depending on the company's taste for speed, accuracy, and cultural sensitivity. Imagine it a bit like choosing the right spice level for your favourite curry—everyone's optimum mix is slightly different.

Over the past year, the company has already demonstrated its potential, inking agreements with major enterprises and locking in a strategic partnership with one of Saudi Arabia's giga projects—an impressive feat by any startup measure. This ability to engage early with large-scale initiatives places ?STUCK firmly in the spotlight as a serious player.

The company's CEO and founder, Asmaa Naga, has an intriguing story herself. An Oxford graduate with a Master’s in Applied Linguistics and Language Teaching, she has over a decade of language training experience. Interestingly, Naji jokes that it all began when she opted out of splashing the cash on a luxury handbag, choosing instead to plough the money into starting her venture. Clearly, that bold decision is already paying dividends.

With this fresh injection of cash, ?STUCK plans to ramp up innovation efforts significantly. First on their to-do list is fine-tuning their Arabic-focused AI models to give local businesses even more tailored linguistic solutions. Beyond Arabic and English, they're also eyeing the Chinese language market, hoping to open doors to faster and broader global interaction. For organisations seeking secure personalisation, ?STUCK intends to develop robust hands-on AI solutions that operate directly within corporate environments, promising additional control over data and security.

Impressively, ?STUCK also happens to be one of the rare female-led tech ventures in the region, with women making up a remarkable 93 per cent of the workforce. The executive team boasts deep expertise, including founder and CEO Asmaa Naji, Chief Commercial Officer Tasnim Islam, and Chief Technical Officer Hussam Ahmed.

?STUCK seems to understand there's more than technology at the core of their mission—they're aiming for something closer to human understanding itself. They're not just breaking linguistic and cultural barrriers; they're actively redefining AI’s role in the region, making technology feel fundamentally more human and inclusive—a promising prospect for everyone accessing their services.
