Cyber risks are rising with digital transformation; Egypt faced over 20,000 attacks in early 2025.
The partnership is seen as a strategic milestone to provide robust security solutions.
The Middle East's cybersecurity market is set for significant growth, opening opportunities for innovation.
At GITEX Global 2025, the Dubai air was buzzing with deals and digital dreamsâand right in the middle of it, SonicWall and Digital Planets announced a fresh partnership set to beef up cybersecurity defences across the Middle East. SonicWall, known globally for its managed security solutions, joined hands with Digital Planets, part of DP Group, which has built quite the reputation for delivering integrated digital services. Together, theyâre aiming to tackle the regionâs fast-rising cyber threats head-on.
With this deal, Digital Planets has become a SonicWall Gold Partner and will roll out advanced cybersecurity services across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt. The timing couldnât be more spot on. Cyber risks are mushrooming as digital transformation races aheadâEgypt alone saw over 20,000 cyberattacks in just the first half of 2025, hitting key communication and infrastructure targets. And globally, cybercrime damages are tipped to reach a jaw-dropping $10.5 trillion annually. No wonder everyoneâs scrambling to reinforce their firewalls.
During the signing, which took place amid the 6,800 tech exhibitors at GITEX, the spotlight wasnât just on flashy gadgets and AI. There was also a strong message: you canât have digital progress without solid security. Dr Ahmed Hanafy, DP Groupâs founder and CEO, described the partnership as a âstrategic milestone,â adding that combining SonicWallâs technologies with Digital Planetsâ local expertise will deliver robust security for organisations across Egypt, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia. I reckon thatâs not merely marketing talkâthese markets have suffered enough from both petty hackers and well-funded cybercriminals.
SonicWallâs regional director, Eng. Mohamed Abdallah, was equally upbeat, saying the collaboration reaffirmed SonicWallâs commitment to supporting its partners across the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa. He pointed out that Digital Planetsâ customer-focused attitude meshes perfectly with SonicWallâs philosophy of keeping partners at the centre of its business. Fair play to themâitâs a partnership that sounds like more than just a handshake photo op.
On the flip side, the cybersecurity market here isnât an easy playing field. The region ranked third globally for cyberattacks in 2024, with GCC countries and Egypt being key targets. That said, the Middle East and Africa are predicted to become the worldâs second-largest cybersecurity market in the coming years, growing by a hefty 16.2 per cent annually. For startups around here, thatâs not bad news at allâit signals new room for local innovation and collaboration.
I remember chatting with a young Cairo-based founder last year who joked that keeping up with cybersecurity standards was âa bit of a faff,â yet admitted it was the only way to stay in the game. And honestly, heâs right. The SonicWallâDigital Planets partnership feels like one of those moves that could make life easier for enterprises still trying to find their cyber footing. Sometimes partnerships like this are exactly whatâs needed to turn tech potential into real-world resilience.
Itâs not all sunshine, of courseâcybercriminals wonât suddenly pack up and go homeâbut with both companies pooling talents and tech under SonicWallâs SecureFirst Partner Program, the regionâs digital backbone might just get a little stronger. And for those of us at Arageek whoâve been cheering on MENAâs digital transformation for years, thatâs something to be honestly a bit chuffed about⊠even if staying ahead in this space can definately feel like running a marathon at sprint speed.
