Squadio secured $3 million in funding from top names like Wa’ed Ventures and 500 MENA.

Founded in 2019, the startup aids businesses in managing remote technical teams globally.

Squadio's platform serves over 450 companies, linking them with 55,000 tech professionals.

Expansion includes new offices in Dubai, Alexandria, and Silicon Valley.

Funds will focus on product development and reshaping regional tech hiring.

Saudi tech startup Squadio has just wrapped up a $3 million pre–Series A funding round, drawing investment from some well-known regional names such as Wa’ed Ventures, 500 MENA, Nour Nouf Ventures, SEEDRA Ventures, and the National Technology Development Program. Not bad company to keep, right?

Founded in 2019 by Khaled Senawy, and later joined by Monther M. Kattan, Squadio focuses on helping businesses build and manage remote technical teams. It’s carved out quite a niche—offering recruitment and workforce management tools for tech talent spread across the globe. According to the company, its platform has already served over 450 companies in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, and the United States, connecting them with more than 55 000 specialised tech professionals from 80 countries.

The startup has also been expanding geographically, opening offices in Dubai, Alexandria, and even Silicon Valley, alongside its headquarters in Riyadh. That kind of growth signals a clear ambition: Squadio isn’t content to stay local—it’s eyeing the global tech‑talent stage.

When I first stumbled upon Squadio’s story, it reminded me of conversations we’ve had here at Arageek about how fast the region’s remote‑work infrastructure is maturing. It’s a space that was once considered a bit of a faff, but now, firms like Squadio are proving that distributed teams aren’t just a stop‑gap; they’re the new normal.

Of course, managing cross‑border teams isn’t without its headaches—time zones, culture, workflow alignment. Still, I reckon Squadio’s approach to simplifying those pain points is spot on. And, believe it or not, many startups across MENA are starting to view remote hiring as their secret weapon rather than a last resort.

For Senawy and Kattan, the fresh capital is likely to fuel further product development and market expansion. If they play their cards right, they could help redefine how regional enterprises think about global tech hiring. And that’s something we at Arageek—who’ve spent years cheering for MENA’s startup scene—are quite chuffed to bits about, even if the road ahead will definately test their mettle.
