The deal marks a major step in ADNOC’s ambition to become the most AI-integrated energy company.
ENERGYai can cut down operational processes from months to mere days, offering a significant competitive edge.
The platform leverages advanced AI models trained on ADNOC’s workflows, optimizing seismic analysis, geological modeling, and real-time operations monitoring.
AIQ developed ENERGYai in collaboration with ADNOC, G42, and Microsoft, incorporating cutting-edge cloud and AI technologies.
The first operational version of ENERGYai is set to launch in mid-2025, initially covering subsurface operations across multiple exploration assets.
AIQ, a leading artificial intelligence solutions provider based in the UAE, has secured a landmark $340 million contract with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) to roll out its advanced ENERGYai platform across the company’s upstream operations. This move is set to redefine efficiency in the energy sector by drastically reducing the time required for critical operational processes.
ENERGYai is an AI-powered platform that harnesses generative AI and large language models trained on ADNOC’s proprietary workflows. The system is designed to enhance key exploration and production tasks, including seismic data analysis, geological modeling, and real-time operational monitoring. By integrating AI into these workflows, ADNOC aims to significantly cut down processing times—turning months of work into days.
“Our goal is to be the most AI-integrated energy company in the world, maximizing the potential of artificial intelligence to drive efficiency and create value across our operations,” said Musabbeh Al Kaabi, ADNOC’s Executive Director of Low Carbon Solutions and International Growth. “We look forward to working with AIQ to scale ENERGYai across our exploration activities, reinforcing our position as a reliable and responsible energy provider in global markets.”
The platform is the result of a strategic collaboration between AIQ, ADNOC, technology firm G42, and Microsoft. It incorporates cloud computing via Microsoft Azure, alongside advanced AI frameworks such as Open Subsurface Data Universe and OpenAI models.
“This contract marks a milestone moment for AIQ,” said AIQ’s acting CEO, Magzhan Kanysbai. “Together with ADNOC, we’ve developed a groundbreaking generative AI solution that has the potential to transform the entire energy value chain.”
The first version of ENERGYai is expected to go live by mid-2025, featuring five AI-powered agents specializing in subsurface operations. These AI models will be tested across multiple ADNOC exploration assets before being gradually expanded to thousands of wells. Over the three-year contract period, AIQ will fully deploy ENERGYai across ADNOC’s 28+ producing fields, ushering in a new era of AI-driven efficiency in the energy sector.
