Galaxy Corporation has opened a UAE office, expanding its AI entertainment business.

The move follows talks with the National Media Authority, backing AI‑powered media.

The UAE is becoming a ā€œtesting groundā€ for new media models.

Officials say the step strengthens innovation, talent and responsible development.

The expansion reflects growing convergence between technology, content and commerce.

Galaxy Corporation, an AI-driven entertainment technology company headquartered in Seoul, has officially set up shop in the UAE, marking another vote of confidence in the country’s fast-evolving digital and creative economy. The move comes as part of the company’s international expansion and follows high-level engagement with the National Media Authority (NMA), signalling alignment with the UAE’s broader push to champion AI-powered media and entertainment.

From where I stand, watching the UAE’s startup scene over the years, this feels like a natural next step. We’ve seen fintech, mobility and climate tech players flock to the region. Now, enter‑tech, the fusion of entertainment and advanced technologies, is clearly having its moment. And believe it or not, it’s happening at quite a pace.

Galaxy Corporation operates across media, intellectual property, commerce and technology, delivering AI-powered solutions tailored for the entertainment industry. The company is particularly known for working at the intersection of K‑content, K‑pop, AI and even robotics, a mix that might have sounded futuristic not long ago, but now feels almost spot on for a region investing heavily in innovation.

The establishment of its UAE office reflects what many global firms are quietly acknowledging: the Emirates has become more than just a regional hub. It’s a testing ground for new media models and future-ready business frameworks. That said, entering a new market is never a simple box-ticking exercise. It requires regulatory clarity and institutional support, and this is where the NMA comes into the picture.

His Excellency Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the NMA, noted that the UAE continues to attract companies shaping the future of technology and creative industries. He said Galaxy Corporation’s decision to launch operations locally reinforces the country’s position as a place where innovation, talent and responsible media development converge.

Meanwhile, His Excellency Dr Jamal Al Kaabi, Secretary General of the NMA, highlighted that the Authority is focused on building forward-looking frameworks that encourage innovation while maintaining professionalism and credibility. Engagement with international players, he explained, supports knowledge exchange and the development of next-generation media and entertainment solutions aligned with national priorities.

On the corporate side, Sunghae Cho, CEO of Galaxy Corporation UAE, described the country as a compelling environment for growth. As a global ā€œenter‑techā€ company rooted in K‑content and advanced technologies such as AI and robotics, he said the UAE has already made remarkable progress as a global hub and holds strong potential to play an increasingly prominent role in shaping the future of the industry.

During the launch ceremony, the company’s leadership reiterated their confidence in the UAE’s innovation strategy and signalled interest in exploring new opportunities that blend culture and technology. It’s the kind of cross-border collaboration that, frankly, wasn’t this seamless a decade ago.

I still remember attending early startup meetups in Dubai where founders would speak about ā€œcreative techā€ as if it was a distant ambition. Today, global AI entertainment firms are planting flags here. It shows how far the ecosystem has come, and for many entrepreneurs in the Arageek community, that’s chuffed to bits kind of progress.

The NMA, for its part, continues to position itself as the federal body overseeing and advancing the media sector in line with national values and identity. Through its regulatory and organisational frameworks, it aims to support a sustainable, competitive industry while strengthening the UAE’s global media narrative.

Of course, not every expansion guarantees overnight success, and I’m not a fan of overhyping every new office opening as a game-changer. But this development does fit into a larger pattern. The UAE is steadily building an ecosystem where AI, content and commerce intersect, and it definately wants a leading seat at that table.

For startups across MENA watching closely, there’s a clear takeaway: the lines between tech and entertainment are blurring. And in places like the UAE, that convergence is no longer theoretical. It’s happening, in real time.
