Jisr Ventures Beyond HR Tech with Launch of Expense Management Platform in Saudi Arabia

Jisr launched *Jisr Spend*, a new finance-focused service for Saudi companies.
The platform includes corporate cards, reimbursements, and real-time spend visibility.
Jisr's new brand identity symbolises their transformation into a broader SaaS platform.
The service could save employees up to 13 hours weekly by automating manual tasks.
Jisr manages payrolls totalling SAR 10 billion annually and serves over 4,500 companies.
Jisr, often described as one of Saudi Arabiaās most trusted HR tech firms, has just waded into fresh waters with the launch of *Jisr Spend*. Announced at this yearās Money20/20, the new service positions itself as the first locally developed expense management solution built end-to-end for Saudi companies. Alongside, the company also rolled out a sharper brand identity to underline its shift from being a pure HR suite towards becoming a full-blown SaaS platform spanning HR, talent, and now finance.
So, whatās under the hood of Jisr Spend? Think corporate cards, staff reimbursements, business trips, and automated policy checks all wrapped into a single platform. Itās fully aligned with local rules on VAT and ZATCA, meaning finance teams arenāt stuck in a game of catch-up. By merging finance and HR data, managers get real-time visibility on spend while protecting against fraud ā a headache costing companies worldwide around 13% of corporate losses. One stat that caught my eye: by automating clunky manual processes, the system could free up to 13 hours of work per employee each week. Thatās no small beans.
Mohammed Akkar, the companyās chief executive, framed it as a natural evolution, explaining that the business had grown from a trusted HR software into a digital enabler driving workplace transformation. His words pretty much echo what many in the ecosystem have been whispering: local firms can no longer focus on one vertical, they have to branch out if they want to stay ahead.
Now, about that brand refresh⦠Jisrās new look draws inspiration from a bridge ā symbolising transitions and flow. Monochrome at its core yet coloured with tones of the Saudi landscape, the identity reflects the companyās ambition to be more than just a back-office tool. Itās an attempt, I reckon, to stake a claim as a genuine growth partner for businesses eyeing Vision 2030. Some will say itās just a coat of paint; others might argue that image matters when youāre courting enterprise clients who expect polish and clarity. Personally, Iām somewhere in between, though the symbolism is spot on.
Since its founding in 2017, Jisr has quietly built scale. Today it manages payroll worth over SAR 10 billion annually and serves more than 4,500 companies, covering a workforce of half a million. It also plugs neatly into national systems such as GOSI and Muqeem, which, letās be honest, can otherwise be a bit of a faff for firms to handle manually. That said, scaling from SME users to large enterprises ā as Jisr is now attempting ā is a whole different ballgame. If they can crack that nut, theyāll be chuffed to bits.
Looking at the broader picture, Arageek has often championed startups that donāt just chase growth for its own sake, but aim to solve homegrown problems with tech that actually makes life easier. I once saw a small Riyadh-based firm lose countless hours chasing paper receipts from travelling staff. A tool like Jisr Spend couldāve saved them from that migraine. Believe it or not, sometimes innovation is less about fancy new buzzwords and more about tackling the daily grind.
Of course, weāll have to wait and see how companies in the Kingdom adopt this shift from Jisr. But whatever the case, the move tells us something bigger: that workforce and finance management are finally converging, and local players donāt intend to leave the field open to global competitors. Itās a brave new chapterāthough not all smooth sailingāand Jisrās latest bet could well be the bridge to its next phase of growth.
(And yes, I definately think the timing is interesting, right as Vision 2030 pushes digital integration across every corner of business life.)
