Partnerships and product diversification help Juhayna thrive despite competitive market challenges.

Egyptian dairy heavyweight Juhayna Food Industries has announced a new strategic partnership with Saudi Arabia's Al Rashed Distribution Company, aimed at ramping up their presence in the Saudi market. Now, if you've been following the MENA startup scene with us at Arageek, you'll know that such strategic moves are becoming second nature for regional champions seeking to extend their reach.

Currently, Juhayna exports products to some 48 countries around the globe (not too shabby, right?), usually entering fresh territories by joining forces with local distributors who already have boots on the ground. Partnering with companies who know the lay of the land already makes scaling abroad far less of a faff, I reckon.

It's also worth diving quickly into Juhayna's recent financial results because they seem quite chuffed with those numbers—frankly, who wouldn't be? In 2024, Juhayna's consolidated net profits soared by an impressive 168% year-on-year, rising from about EGP 1.02 billion to a whopping EGP 2.73 billion. Those are the kind of figures other food producers can only dream of.

And believe it or not, back in May, Juhayna secured funding to the tune of EGP 1.90 billion from Commercial International Bank-Egypt (CIB). This sizable loan was specifically earmarked to finance a brand-new citrus production line, part of the ongoing expansion plans to solidfy Juhayna’s position as a regional beverage powerhouse.

It's moves like these—partnering beyond borders and investing in product diversification—that illustrate why Juhayna continues to thrive. On the flip side, entering competitive markets like Saudi Arabia isn't a walk in the park. There's always a bit of uncertainty, but if past performance is anything to go by, Juhayna seems poised to handle it just fine.
