Lynk & Co enters the UAE with Galadari Brothers as the official distributor.

The brand mixes Volvo safety with Geely's connectivity, targeting lifestyle-conscious drivers.

A new showroom opens in Sharjah in October, with a pop-up in Dubai.

Lynk & Co's approach aligns with MENA cities’ mobility hub ambitions.

UAE consumers' response to its lifestyle branding will determine success in a competitive market.

Lynk & Co, the premium lifestyle carmaker born from Geely and Volvo, is making its UAE debut with the backing of Galadari Brothers. The Emirati conglomerate will act as the official distributor, and together they’re pitching a vision of “mobility as lifestyle” – a neat twist that’s becoming more popular as drivers in the region seek more than just a set of wheels.

The brand, which combines Volvo’s well-known safety standards with Geely’s flair for connectivity, has been described as offering a fusion of European design and Chinese innovation. Personally, I reckon the UAE market is a pretty spot-on fit for such a fusion. Cars here aren’t only about getting from A to B; they’re also about status, comfort, and community. And Lynk & Co is clearly playing to that choir.

Mohammed Galadari, Co-Chairman and Group CEO of Galadari Brothers, noted that Lynk & Co brings “the future of premium urban mobility” to the Emirates, promising a mix of innovation, design, and sustainability. That said, bold statements are easy to make in the motor industry… proving them in traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road is another matter entirely. Still, drivers in the UAE will get their first chance to judge soon enough, as the brand’s first showroom is set to open in Sharjah this October, with a temporary one popping up in Dubai to handle the early buzz.

From the Lynk & Co side, Tian Jinjun, Vice President of Zeekr International & Managing Director of Zeekr MEA, pointed out that Galadari’s deep local expertise and strong network give the partnership good footing. And believe it or not, Lynk & Co has already sold over 1.3 million vehicles globally since launching in 2016 – not bad for a brand still seen by some as the “new kid on the block.”

What strikes me most is how this move plugs into a bigger pattern. Many MENA cities are racing to position themselves as mobility hubs, where tech, sustainability and lifestyle blend together. At Arageek we’ve often chatted with founders who bemoan how developing new mobility solutions can be a bit of a faff when infrastructure lags behind. So seeing a mainstream player bring a fresh model here might spark further innovation – and possibly open doors for startups in related areas like EV charging or connected driving apps.

Of course, the proof is always in the pudding. Success will depend on whether UAE consumers, who are already quite spoilt for choice, actually take to Lynk & Co’s lifestyle-heavy branding. Some might be chuffed to bits with the idea of driving something more connected and youthful; others will stick with their trusty Mazdas, Nissans or Mercs.

For now, it looks like another chapter in the region’s rapidly evolving mobility story. And if Lynk & Co really can pull off its promise of safer, smarter, connected living on wheels, they might just find themselves right at home. Either way, the competition is heating up – which, for drivers at least, is no bad thing… even if the summer heat already makes driving in Dubai a bit of an endurance sport.

So yes, while I’m not a fan of overblown marketing talk, this partnership feels more than just window dressing. It’s the kind of move that could genuinely shift the market gears, and that’s something worth keeping an eye on. For startups watching closely, it’s a reminder: in MENA’s fast-changing mobility scene, timing and the right partner are half the battle. And if you don’t get both spot on, you’re definately in for a rough ride.
