Moove Drives $250M Funding to Bolster Global Autonomous Fleet Infrastructure

Moove has secured $250 million in a Series C funding round, pushing its valuation to $2.1 billion and underlining growing investor appetite for smart mobility infrastructure. The round was led by Mubadala Investment Company, with participation from Woven Capital and Ion Pacific, alongside BlueCrest Capital Management and Sona Capital. Existing backers include heavyweight names such as BlackRock, Uber and Franklin Templeton.

It’s a sizeable bet on a company that, since launching in 2020, has positioned itself not as a flashy self-driving tech builder, but as the operator quietly making the whole thing work. Moove focuses on the operational backbone of autonomous vehicle fleets—fleet management, charging, maintenance and logistics. Not exactly glamorous, but absolutely essential. And if you ask me, that’s often where the real value hides.

The fresh capital will be used to expand its autonomous vehicle operations, including rolling out more of its so-called “Nests” — dedicated hubs for charging, servicing and managing electric and autonomous fleets. The company also plans to enter new markets and grow its autonomous division team from around 150 employees to 500 by the end of the year. That’s not a small leap; it’s a full-on sprint.

Today, Moove operates roughly 42,000 vehicles across 29 cities in 13 countries, supported by more than 3,300 employees. It reports $420 million in annual recurring revenue, a detail investors tend to watch closely. And believe it or not, the company is already running autonomous fleets in partnership with Waymo in Phoenix and Miami, with plans to launch in London next. London, as we all know, is no easy nut to crack when it comes to transport.

Ladi Delano, co-founder and co-CEO of Moove, has said the future of autonomous vehicles will not depend on technology alone, but on building integrated infrastructure — from fleet management to charging stations and operating systems — to ensure these vehicles can run at scale. It’s a pragmatic view. The tech may grab headlines, but without the pipes and plumbing underneath, it’s all a bit of a faff.

From the investor side, Ali Eid Al Mheiri, Executive Director of UAE Investments at Mubadala’s Diversified Investments platform, noted that backing Moove aligns with Mubadala’s strategy to support scalable platforms that strengthen advanced technology ecosystems and smart mobility. That fits neatly with the UAE’s broader push into future-focused sectors.

Regulations, local partnerships, capital intensity — it’s not always smooth sailing. Still, closing a $250 million round in this climate is no small feat. Investors seem convinced that operational infrastructure will definately shape the next phase of mobility.
