Longevium, a healthcare company based in the UAE, has secured $7 million in Seed funding to set up a new longevity research laboratory at Dubai Science Park. The facility, expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2026, signals a serious push into AI-powered preventive healthcare—an area that, if you ask me, is quickly moving from buzzword territory into something far more tangible.

The new lab will focus on extending healthy lifespan, not just adding years for the sake of it. Longevium plans to combine artificial intelligence, biomedical research and advanced diagnostics to better understand biological age and how it links to disease risk. In simple terms, biological age looks at how ā€œoldā€ your body really is based on biomarkers, rather than just the date on your passport. And that’s where things start to get interesting.

The company will build on data gathered from its three existing clinics in Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers and Jumeirah Village Circle. Together, these centres have treated more than 30,000 patients. That clinical footprint gives Longevium a dataset to work with—something many early-stage healthtech startups would be chuffed to bits to have.

One of the flagship projects is an AI-powered clinical assistant designed to support doctors in decision-making. The firm is also developing biological age estimation platforms that combine lab biomarkers with medical imaging. On top of that, it intends to integrate data from wearable health devices, enabling near real-time health monitoring and, ideally, earlier detection of risks before symptoms even appear.

And then there’s the digital twin angle. Longevium wants to create virtual models of individual patients that simulate how a person might respond to specific treatments. These models will incorporate advances linked to Yamanaka factors—proteins known for their role in cellular reprogramming. The idea is to test therapies in a simulated environment before applying them in real life. It sounds futuristic, but digital twins are already gaining traction globally. In healthcare, though, it’s still early days.

On the flip side, this kind of ambition doesn’t come without complexity. Integrating imaging, biomarkers, wearable data and regenerative research into a single coherent platform is no small feat. It can be a bit of a faff to align clinical practice with fast-moving AI tools. But if executed well, the payoff could be substantial.

The lab will also expand its work in regenerative medicine and tissue engineering, exploring ways to restore organ function and target age-related diseases. Longevium plans to grow its research team and form partnerships with universities, research centres and technology providers focused on longevity science and medical AI. Building that ecosystem feels spot on for the region, especially as Gulf countries double down on health innovation as part of their economic diversification strategies.

I reckon preventive healthcare definitately deserves more attention than it gets. Treating illness after it appears is expensive, emotionally draining and, frankly, inefficient. Predicting and preventing disease? That’s a different game altogether.

Longevium’s $7 million Seed round may be just the beginning, but it sets the stage for a bold experiment in AI-driven longevity. Whether it reshapes healthcare in the region remains to be seen. Still, it’s a move that puts Dubai Science Park—and the wider UAE healthtech scene—firmly in the conversation. And believe it or not, that conversation is only just starting.
