Nice Deer joins the UN Global Compact, aiming for responsible and transparent business practices.

The UN Global Compact encourages companies to support human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption principles.

CEO Mostafa Medhat emphasises putting sustainability at the core for a fairer future.

The firm's focus is on digital healthcare to improve financial inclusion and transparency.

Their membership is expected to strengthen Egypt's role in supporting the Sustainable Development Goals.

Nice Deer has officially joined the United Nations Global Compact Network Egypt, becoming part of a global movement that nudges businesses towards more responsible and transparent practices. It’s quite the milestone, really—standing shoulder to shoulder with over 25,000 companies from 167 countries that have pledged to operate more sustainably.

For those who haven’t come across it before, the UN Global Compact is essentially a call to action for companies to align themselves with ten core principles covering human rights, labour, the environment, and anti-corruption, all tied to the broader Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Launched back in 2000, the Compact now works through more than 60 local networks worldwide, so Egypt’s branch is part of something genuinely far-reaching.

Now, when a healthcare tech firm like Nice Deer jumps on board, it’s not just window dressing. The company’s been quite vocal about wanting to reshape Egypt’s healthcare ecosystem by blending efficiency, technology, and ethics. Its focus on digital healthcare financing and claims management hints at a bigger ambition: greater financial inclusion and transparency for both patients and service providers. And let’s be honest—healthcare paperwork is a bit of a faff, so going digital might be a blessing for all involved.

Eng. Mostafa Medhat, the CEO of Nice Deer, said that sustainability was being put “at the core of our operations” to help build a fairer and healthier future. That’s a bold statement, but I reckon it reflects how much pressure organisations are now under to prove that profit and purpose don’t have to clash.

Mrs. Walaa El-Husseiny, Country Director of the UN Global Compact Network Egypt, welcomed the firm, saying that Nice Deer’s decision “reflects a genuine belief in the power of sustainability and responsible practices to drive long-term success.” She added that their membership helps strengthen the private sector’s role in supporting not just the Compact’s Ten Principles but also the SDGs themselves. Spot on, if you ask me—collaboration like this can make a dent if everyone actually walks the talk.

On the flip side, it’ll be interesting to see how Nice Deer keeps this momentum. Plenty of firms make shiny announcements, but real change needs persistence (and a bit of stubborn optimism). For a company rooted in tech, though, there’s a good chance it’ll turn that commitment into tangible results, from reducing paper waste to boosting operational efficiency.

At Arageek, we’ve seen more MENA startups weaving sustainability into their strategies lately—it’s becoming part of the region’s entrepreneurial DNA. So, seeing an Egyptian digital health player like Nice Deer embracing global sustainability standards feels, well… quite encouraging. If they keep this up, Egypt’s private sector might just prove that responsible business can also be good business.

For anyone curious, Nice Deer’s profile and sustainability pledges can be found on the UN Global Compact website. It’s definately worth a quick look if you’re into seeing how local innovators are plugging into global efforts for change.
