Truecaller and Cloudcom will launch Business Chat for Egyptian companies.

The service replaces plain SMS with “secure, verified and richer” messaging.

Businesses can send branded media, interactive buttons and trusted profiles.

Integration into one dashboard promises “smoother conversations” and fewer scattered tools.

The move reflects rising demand for interactive, trustworthy digital engagement in Egypt.

Egyptian businesses may soon find SMS becoming a bit old hat. Truecaller has joined forces with Cloudcom to roll out its Business Chat solution in Egypt, a move designed to help companies upgrade how they speak to customers, and, frankly, to drag business messaging into a more interactive era.

At its core, the partnership aims to replace traditional text messages with secure, verified and richer conversations. Instead of plain SMS alerts that can feel cold (and sometimes suspicious), businesses will be able to send branded messages featuring images, videos, documents and even interactive buttons. Think one-tap actions, sticky notifications for urgent updates, and extra layers of authentication to reassure customers that the message is the real deal.

If you have ever received a vague SMS from an unknown number claiming to be your bank, you’ll know why this matters. Trust is everything. In the startup ecosystem we often talk about “frictionless” user journeys at Arageek, and I’ve seen first-hand how founders struggle with something as simple, yet critical, as customer communication. It can be a bit of a faff to manage verification, updates and marketing on separate systems. So bringing this into one unified channel does make sense.

That’s where Cloudcom comes in. By integrating Truecaller’s Business Chat into its omnichannel platform, enterprises in Egypt can manage customer engagement, authentication and communication flows within a single ecosystem. In other words, fewer scattered tools, more streamlined journeys. On the surface it sounds technical, but the idea is quite straightforward: one dashboard, multiple touchpoints, smoother conversations.

The timing is also interesting. Egypt’s digital market has been evolving quickly, with more consumers expecting secure and engaging experiences rather than static notifications. And believe it or not, younger users especially are far more likely to interact with a message that feels dynamic and verified. A simple blue tick or branded profile can be spot on when it comes to building confidence.

Of course, SMS will not vanish overnight. It remains widespread and accessible. That said, I reckon businesses that ignore richer messaging options may struggle to stand out as competition heats up. Customers now expect more than a plain-text reminder; they want clarity, security and a seamless path to action, well… ideally in one tap.

For Truecaller, which already has strong brand recognition in caller identification, expanding Business Chat in Egypt strengthens its position beyond spam detection into enterprise communication. For Cloudcom, adding verified, media-rich messaging adds extra weight to its omnichannel ofering.

All in all, the collaboration signals a broader shift in how companies across Egypt approach customer engagement, more interactive, more secure and, hopefully, more trustworthy. Whether it becomes the new normal depends on adoption, but one thing is clear: the days of relying solely on basic SMS are, at the very least, under pressure.
