Travellers can plan and book trips through simple chat.

The platform offers 1,5 million hotels with tailored, real-time suggestions.

The move supports Vision 2030 and Saudi Arabia’s digital transformation goals.

Success now hinges on handling complex travel changes smoothly.

Almosafer Travel & Tourism Co. has taken a notable step in Saudi Arabia’s digital journey, becoming the first company from the Kingdom to launch its services through the ChatGPT platform. In simple terms, travellers can now plan and book trips with Almosafer directly inside the global AI interface, using conversation instead of the usual endless clicking through menus.

It might sound like a small tweak, but it isn’t. Travel booking can be a bit of a faff, dozens of tabs open, filters that don’t quite work, and that creeping doubt whether you’ve missed a better deal. With this move, Almosafer is shifting the process towards a chat-based experience, where users type what they need in Arabic or English and receive tailored suggestions almost instantly.

Through the integration, customers can tap into Almosafer’s inventory of more than 1.5 million hotels. The AI can suggest properties based on specific preferences, family-friendly stays, proximity to landmarks, or multi-city itineraries that would normally require serious patience to piece together. Instead of manual searching, the system offers contextual recommendations in real time, turning what used to be a checklist into more of a guided conversation.

Muzzammil Ahussain, Chief Executive Officer of Almosafer Travel & Tourism Co., described the launch as a landmark moment for both the company and Saudi Arabia’s digital economy. He noted that simplifying travel through innovation has long been a priority, and bringing services into the ChatGPT ecosystem is part of making planning more accessible and intelligent. He also positioned the move as a sign of the Kingdom embracing the future of AI.

The app is now live on the platform, reinforcing Almosafer’s role as a major player in Saudi tourism. The initiative aligns closely with Vision 2030, particularly its focus on digital transformation and positioning the Kingdom as a global hub for technology and world-class tourism services.

From where I stand, watching startups across the MENA region constantly experiment with AI, this feels like a logical next step. At Arageek, we often see founders wrestling with how to make technology feel human rather than mechanical. And believe it or not, conversational commerce, the idea of buying through chat, has been brewing for years. Almosafer simply brought it into the mainstream in Saudi Arabia in a bold way.

That said, I reckon the real test will be how well the AI handles complexity. Travel plans can get messy. Flights change, hotels overbook, preferences shift at the last minute. If the system manages these hiccups smoothly, it could be spot on. If not, well… travellers are not known for their patience.

On the flip side, being first comes with its own pressure. Competitors will definately be watching closely. But as first moves go, this one signals confidence. It shows that Saudi travel tech firms are not just adopting AI tools quietly behind the scenes, they are putting them front and centre for customers to use every day.

For a region investing heavily in tourism and digital services, this is more than a tech update. It’s another sign that AI in MENA is moving from buzzword to practical tool. And if it saves travellers time and stress, I suspect many will be chuffed to bits.
