InterSystems views TrakCare as a blueprint for Apex Health's regional expansion.
The initiative aligns with Qatar's National Vision 2030's focus on innovation and sustainability.
Built-in AI will support intelligent workflows, enhancing personalised care and coordination.
Apex Health, the healthcare arm of Estithmar Holding, has taken a fresh leap into digital transformation by signing a strategic agreement with InterSystems to roll out its TrakCare platform across its network. The deal was formalised at Apex Health’s Doha headquarters, with Joseph Hazel, the group CEO, and Ali Abi Raad, InterSystems’ regional managing director, putting pen to paper.
At its core, the move is about creating a unified health information system that ties clinical, administrative, and financial processes together. For patients, this means their medical records will be centralised and accessible across Apex Health’s facilities—a bit of a game-changer when you think about how often people are asked to repeat tests or lug around paper files. Clinicians, meanwhile, will be able to make faster decisions thanks to real-time data at their fingertips.
Hazel described the digital shift as one of Apex Health’s “fundamental pillars,” noting that the technology would improve patient experience and allow for “safe, personalised care.” It’s a lofty promise, but one that seems increasingly necessary as healthcare systems across the region strive for smarter, smoother delivery. On the flip side, digitisation can be a bit of a faff during early rollout, so it’ll be interesting to see how quickly staff settle in.
For InterSystems, the partnership is more than just another deal. Raad underlined that TrakCare is being positioned as a blueprint for Apex Health’s wider expansion in Qatar and the MENA region. Deployments are already planned at The View Hospital and the Korean Medical Center, with the system designed for interoperability and quick integration of any new care centres down the line.
Jasim Abdul Rahman, the group CIO, went further, highlighting that built-in artificial intelligence will support “intelligent” workflows and more personalised care journeys. In practice, that means predictive nudges for clinicians, smoother coordination between facilities, and data analytics baked into the system from day one. I reckon this could be spot on for a region where healthcare providers are under pressure to innovate while scaling up fast.
From a broader perspective, the collaboration dovetails neatly with Qatar’s National Vision 2030, which stresses innovation and sustainability in healthcare delivery. Apex Health itself is expanding aggressively, already managing eight hospitals across four countries and aiming for more than 5,000 beds in operation by 2026. Having seen some of the pain points entrepreneurs face when scaling, I find it quite telling that Apex is tackling scalability in healthcare tech head-on—it shows the same mindset as a fast-growing startup.
Believe it or not, while the tech jargon can sound heavy, the ambition is rather straightforward: make patient journeys smooth, give clinicians better tools, and reduce duplicated effort. If they pull it off, patients will be chuffed to bits not having to explain their medical history ten times over. And that, surely, is something worth raising an eyebrow in a good way about… even if implementation might be a bit messy at first.
For readers at Arageek who follow startup stories, this partnership is a reminder that whether it’s healthtech, fintech, or any other sector, the same principles apply: bold vision, smart partnerships, and the guts to back innovation even when it’s not an easy road. In Apex Health’s case, it’s about transforming hospitals into something more connected, more data-driven, and hopefully, more human-friendly. That’s definately a target worth shooting for.
