Apple sees Egypt as a key region and plans to expand its local footprint significantly.

Egypt’s Investment Minister Hassan El-Khatib sat down recently with Omar El-Rifai, Apple’s Director of Government Affairs for the Middle East and Pakistan, for a chat about Apple's plans for growth in the Egyptian market. According to an official press release, the meeting aimed at exploring fresh investment routes and identifying new ways to strengthen Apple's presence locally.

The discussion forms part of a broader effort by the ministry to lure in top-quality investments aimed at boosting the national economy and enhancing Egypt's position in the tech sector. Talking up Egypt as a promising market, El-Khatib drew attention to the country's existing appeal, highlighting Apple's interest as evidence of strong confidence in Egypt’s economic potential and strategic placing.

The minister emphasised the valuable opportunities Apple's expanding presence could open up, potentially creating hundreds of jobs across technical fields such as software development, sales, and customer services. He mentioned Egypt's solid track record with call centres and training initiatives, positioning the country as somewhat of a magnet for global firms looking to expand sustainably.

Interestingly, El-Khatib went a step further, inviting Apple—we all know how eagerly Egyptian Apple fans have longed for this—to consider opening the first official Apple Store in Egypt. This would greatly improve how wizely Apple's products reach us, while simultaneously giving the local economy a nice little boost. The ministry pledged its full support to make sure the initiative gets off the ground smoothly, keen to further stamp Egypt's image as an innovative regional tech hub.

El-Rifai, for his part, stressed that Apple certainly views Egypt with great enthusiasm, referring to the country as an essential gateway to Africa and the Middle East. He said Apple is fully focused on contributing to local economic development through investments in call-centre facilities and professional training, effectively creating skilled employment for the Egyptian workforce.

Moreover, in what will cheer up any Egypt-based followers of Arageek, he confirmed Apple’s plans to broaden its Egyptian footprint, adding that the company indeed aims to roll out an official store soon. Apple will work closely with the ministry to ensure an encouraging environment for this expansion.

With tech titans turning their gaze towards Egypt, it seems the skies are looking rather bright for Egypt's tech enthusiasts and the wider job market alike.
