Prince Khalid bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud is prominently known as a businessman and football enthusiast in Saudi Arabia. The second son of the late King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Prince Khalid held various governmental and private roles, notably gaining recognition as Honorary Board Chairman of Al Ahli, one of Saudi Arabia’s leading football clubs.

Throughout his career, Khalid significantly impacted the kingdom’s sport development as a former footballer himself and later as an influential administrator. Born in Riyadh on January 1, 1950, Prince Khalid is the second son of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. His mother, Princess Munira bint Mohammed Al Sahabi Al Sheikh, passed away in 2012. He pursued studies at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah and later attended the reputed Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the UK.

Prince Khalid married his cousin, Princess Noura bint Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Saud Al-Kabir. Together, they have five children: three daughters—Princesses Dana, Latifa, and Abeer—and two sons—Princes Faisal and Abdulaziz.

Prince Khalid’s journey with Al Ahli Football Club began in 1975, marking the start of a transformative era. Soon after joining the club’s administration, he was unanimously elected to the board of directors by the General Assembly—a clear vote of confidence in his leadership.

Under his vision, the club launched an ambitious development program aimed at elevating player performance and overall club stature. One of his standout moves was bringing in elite Brazilian coaches, including the legendary Santana, who had previously managed the Brazilian national team. These strategic hires played a crucial role in securing multiple domestic league and cup victories for Al Ahli during his tenure.

Prince Khalid’s impact wasn’t limited to top-tier competition. He is widely recognized for founding Saudi Arabia’s first officially recognized football academy, laying the foundation for structured youth development and grassroots football across the Kingdom.
