Dubai is gearing up once again to take centre stage with its second edition of the Dubai Artificial Intelligence Festival, set to take place on the 23rd and 24th of April 2025 at the lavish Madinat Jumeirah. Under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Chairman of Dubai's Executive Council, this high-profile event is set to cement the city's status as a leading hub for technological innovation.

As part of Dubai’s inaugural "AI Week," the festival is organised by Dubai AI Campus in collaboration with the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and the UAE's Office of the Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications. Organisers say the aim is to delve deeply into AI's transformative impact across different sectors.

This year’s gathering is expected to draw numbers of around 8,000 AI experts from across the globe, along with at least 500 investors and plenty of tech startups and innovators. The organisers also announced there will be 100 speakers and a similar number of exhibitors hailing from over 100 countries—turning Dubai once again into that melting pot of technological brilliance and entrepreneurial buzz we’ve come to expect.

Among the highlights planned are more than 30 roundtable discussions and workshops. “These sessions give leaders in AI a fantastic opportunity to swap insights, debate a bit, and shine light onto what’s next for artificial intelligence and its many applications,” remarked one person familiar with the event. And with global predictions estimating AI’s contribution to the economy could rocket to around $15.7 trillion by 2030—$320 billion of that specifically in the Middle East—the event certainly seems timely.

Zooming into the UAE itself, forecasts point toward the AI market hitting an impressive $33.46 billion by 2033 with the machine learning sector alone reaching a staggering $41.2 billion. Moreover, about 80 percent of businesses in the UAE are predicted to be using AI to guide their decision-making by 2026.

Commenting on the significance of the event, Arif Amiri, CEO of DIFC Authority, noted: “We’re proud to be taking part in Dubai’s AI Week and reaffirming our commitment to making Dubai a world-leading centre for innovation. The festival provides an essential platform to support the responsible adoption of AI technologies across numerous industries.

Meanwhile, Dubai’s AI Campus itself is undergoing significant expansion, with plans to reach an impressive 100,000 square feet, housing around 500 startups and creating more than 3,000 job opportunities. It’s even expected to attract around $300 million in investments over the next few years into the city’s bustling tech ecosystem.

Events like this underline Dubai’s well-known ambition to position itself at the very forefront of technological progress, bridging traditional industries with futuristic solutions through the clever use of AI. And judging by conversations I've had with Arageek readers, everyone from seasoned entrepreneurs to those just dipping their toes in the tech pool seem pretty excited about the possibilities.

Registration for the Dubai Artificial Intelligence Festival is now open, and those interested in finding out more or signing up can check out the event's offical website.
