Egypt's e& Egypt and Salam Properties are collaborating on smart technology for New Cairo's *The Residence*.
The agreement aims to enhance real estate with digital infrastructure and high-speed communications.
e& Egypt will establish ICT networks and integrate digital services in the development.
The project supports Egypt's goal of sustainable, tech-driven cities and smart living environments.
This partnership could position Egypt as a leader in blending digital readiness with physical development.
When two industries that barely spoke the same language a decade ago finally start collaboratingâreal estate and telecomsâyou know change is in the air. Thatâs exactly whatâs happening in Egypt right now, where e& Egypt has joined forces with Salam Properties to roll out smart technology and digital infrastructure for *The Residence* project in New Cairo.
The deal, recently signed by Salam Propertiesâ CEO Ahmed Kassem and e& Egyptâs Head of Digital Solutions Mohamed El Roweiny, aims to weave digital transformation into the fabric of Egyptâs growing property sector. As someone whoâs seen countless MENA startups wrestle with connectivity and data hurdles, I reckon this kind of partnership is spot on for nudging the region closer to truly smart living.
Kassem described the agreement as a milestoneâone that will see the development kitted out with high-speed communications, smart home systems, and world-class tech infrastructure. The plan ties neatly into the governmentâs ambition to build sustainable, technology-driven cities across the country.
Under the arrangement, e& Egypt will handle the setup of the ICT backbone, install data transmission networks, and integrate digital services throughout *The Residence*. The project spans about 12 feddans in the Lotus area of New Cairo, with completion pencilled in for three and a half yearsâ time. Think of it less like a regular housing compound and more like a connected hub for modern urbanites.
El Roweiny echoed the sentiment, saying the collaboration reflects e& Egyptâs commitment to using digital innovation to enhance real estate projects. âWeâre proud to bring our smart infrastructure and digital experience to The Residence,â he noted, adding that the companyâs focus remains on improving customer value while pushing Egyptâs smart city agenda forward.
Now, from an Arageek perspectiveâwhere weâre always banging the drum for digital empowermentâthis kind of tie-up feels long overdue. The idea of turning property developments into tech-ready ecosystems could easily ripple out across Cairoâs booming suburbs. On the flip side, though, integrating such systems isnât always plain sailing; coordinating multiple vendors, ensuring data protection, and sustaining service quality can be a bit of a faff.
Salam Propertiesâ Chief Commercial Officer, Dr. Moataz Shalaby, emphasised that the company only works with âtop-tier partnersâ to guarantee quality and efficiency. He believes the deal boosts both the investment appeal of *The Residence* and its competitiveness on a global stage. The project, by the way, wonât just offer sleek apartments and penthouses; residents can also look forward to a clubhouse with a suite of integrated servicesâan extra nod to the whole âsmart communityâ concept.
If this collaboration pans out as envisioned, Egypt could soon find itself among the regional frontrunners blending physical development with digital readiness. And honestly, Iâm chuffed to bits to see that kind of ambition taking holdâitâs exactly the sort of synergy we at Arageek love to champion. After all, every bold idea deserves the right tech to bring it to life⊠and maybe, just maybe, make Cairoâs next neighbourhood a little smarter (and a lot more livable).
