Empower received the MAJRA Gold Impact Seal for its corporate social responsibility efforts.
The award reflects Empower's commitment to sustainability and UAE's net-zero 2050 goals.
Chairman Al Tayer cites the award as proof of supporting diverse development in the UAE.
CEO Bin Shafar emphasises Empower's focus on high efficiency and environmental protection.
Recognition like this encourages companies to integrate sustainable impact into operations.
Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation, better known as Empower, has picked up the MAJRA Gold Impact Seal for its corporate social responsibility work, and I have to say, the timing feels spot on. The award, handed out during the first-ever Impact Summit in Abu Dhabi, is considered the highest federal nod for sustainable practices among private companies in the UAE. And believe it or not, itās not just about cooling pipes and big plants; the recognition ties directly to a wider shift in how major players are expected to contribute to national goals.
The company framed the award as a reflection of its longāterm commitment to sustainability, aligning itself closely with the UAEās ambitions to hit netāzero emissions by 2050. That said, I reckon many people forget that district coolingāsomething Empower dominates on a global scaleāactually plays a sizeable role in reducing energy consumption across cities. Itās not the flashiest part of the green transition, but it keeps showing up as a practical solution in policy circles.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of Empower, called the award a ātestamentā to the companyās efforts to support diverse development pathways in the country. His remarks also touched on the UAEās broader sustainability agenda, pairing it neatly with national initiatives that encourage responsible business practices. On the flip side, CEO Ahmad bin Shafar linked the recognition to the continuous modernisation of the companyās infrastructure, saying that the focus stays on high efficiency and environmental protection.
From my own side, having seen how startups in the MENA region hustle to build impact into their business modelsāsomething we talk about a lot at Arageekāitās interesting to watch a massive utility provider emphasise similar values. It shows how the whole ecosystem, from tiny seed-stage teams to giant corporates, is being nudged in the same direction. Sometimes it feels like a bit of a faff keeping up with the latest sustainability frameworks, but this kind of recognition does send a clear message about whatās expected.
Empower added that its social responsibility strategy aligns with national efforts led by MAJRA to encourage active participation from private firms. The Gold Impact Seal, in this context, is meant to highlight companies that go beyond basic compliance and actually embed sustainable impact across operations. Whether consumers notice such seals or not is another debate⦠Iām not entirely convinced everyone pays attention, but the long-term signalling matters.
All in all, Empower seemed chuffed to bits about the awardāand fair enough. The company positioned the win as encouragement to keep enhancing its technologies and environmental performance. And if the UAE continues pushing these standards as firmly as it has been, we may see more organisations scrambling to raise their game. For anyone working around sustainability in the region, thatās definately something to keep an eye on.
