Investors see behind-the-scenes infrastructure as key to e-commerce growth.

Egypt’s e-commerce ecosystem is moving fast, and one of its rising players has just secured fresh backing to push further. Fincart, a Cairo-based e-commerce operations startup, has raised USD 2.8 million in an oversubscribed seed round. The investment came with participation from UAE-headquartered Yango Group, through its corporate venture arm, Yango Ventures.

The new funding is set to fuel Fincart’s expansion beyond Egypt and deepen development of its AI-powered platform for online merchants. And if you have ever spoken to a small e-commerce seller in an emerging market, you’ll know the daily grind can be a bit of a headache. Logistics providers here, cash collection there, payment reconciliation somewhere else… it’s a lot to juggle.

Fincart is trying to tidy up that chaos. Founded in 2023 by Mostafa Masry and Nihal Ali, the startup initially connected merchants with delivery companies. Since then, it has evolved into what it describes as an AI-powered operating system for e-commerce businesses. Through a single platform, merchants can tap into an integrated delivery network, monitor shipping performance, automate cash reconciliation and improve customer retention. Eligible sellers can also access short-term working capital, based on their sales data.

Daniil Shuleyko, CEO of Yango Group, said the company is addressing the operational strain merchants face by simplifying logistics and enhancing delivery performance, while giving access to stronger financial and operational tools. In his view, this kind of infrastructure allows businesses to spend less time firefighting fragmented processes and more time focusing on growth.

That shift matters. Across MENA and Africa, online retail is expanding quickly, but the pipes behind the scenes are often creaky. Many founders we speak to at Arageek say the same thing: selling online is the easy part; fulfilment and cash flow are the real battles. I remember chatting with a young merchant in Alexandria who told me that reconciling cash-on-delivery payments used to take him days every week — days he could have spent growing his brand. Platforms like Fincart aim to smooth out exactly those pain points.

With the new capital, the startup plans to invest in product development, grow its team and build new commercial partnerships as it prepares to enter additional markets across MENA and Africa. Alongside funding, Yango Ventures is expected to provide operational and technical expertise, drawing on Yango Group’s experience scaling products internationally.

Mostafa Masry, co-founder and CEO of Fincart, said the company is not only expanding geographically but also building the infrastructure to power the next phase of growth for e-commerce SMBs in emerging markets.

The deal also signals continued investor appetite for startups building behind-the-scenes infrastructure rather than flashy consumer marketplaces. On the flip side, infrastructure plays are not always glamorous — but, in my opinion, they are often where the real long-term value sits. When the plumbing works, everyone wins.

For Yango Ventures, Fincart marks another addition to its growing regional portfolio. The fund had previously invested in UAE-based embedded finance startup Comfi AI, underscoring its focus on technology that helps SMEs scale more efficiently.

As Fincart gears up for its next chapter, its regional push will be closely watched. If it can execute well — and that is never a small if — it could become a core layer in the region’s e-commerce stack. In markets where operational friction can slow even the most promising businesses, that kind of solution may prove not just useful, but absolutely crutial.
