Floward Unveils Prepaid Gifting Card in Bahrain, Merging Fintech and Flowers

Floward has launched a prepaid gifting card in Bahrain, blending fintech convenience with “something more emotional”.
The Floward Card replaces “cash-in-an-envelope” gifts, while keeping sentiment through optional flower pairings.
The launch partners SimpliFi, INFINIOS and Mastercard across cards, payments infrastructure and global networks.
Bahrain’s mature fintech scene makes it a “friendly testing ground” for cashless, digital-first gifting.
The card can be ordered online, as Floward targets younger, digital-savvy gift buyers.
Floward has rolled out a new prepaid product in Bahrain, and it’s a move that neatly blends fintech with something far more emotional: gifting. The Floward Card, launched in partnership with SimpliFi, INFINIOS and Mastercard, is designed to turn the old habit of cash-in-an-envelope into something more modern, and frankly, less of a faff.
The idea is simple enough. Instead of handing over cash, customers can send a prepaid card that works much like a regular credit card, giving recipients the freedom to spend when and where they like. Yet Floward is keen to keep the sentiment intact. The card can be paired with the company’s signature flower arrangements, which makes the whole gesture feel more thought-through. I’ve seen plenty of startups try to “disrupt” gifting and miss the point, but this feels pretty spot on, well… I mean, at least on paper.
Bahrain is an interesting choice for the first launch. The kingdom has quietly built a reputation as one of the region’s more advanced fintech hubs, with cashless payments becoming second nature rather quickly. From conversations around Arageek’s community over the years, founders often point to Bahrain as a friendly testing ground, and this move seems to back that up.
Behind the scenes, SimpliFi is handling the Cards as a Service layer, while INFINIOS provides the local digital payments infrastructure, all running on Mastercard’s global network. Abdulaziz B. Al Loughani, Floward’s Chairman and CEO, has said the launch reflects the company’s ambition to weave innovation into everyday human moments, by combining the flexibility of a payment card with the elegance of gifting.
From the payments side, Saud Swar, Mastercard’s Country Manager for Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan and the Levant, noted that the collaboration supports Bahrain’s growing fintech ecosystem and keeps customers at the centre of digital innovation with a secure, convenient option. Ali Sattar, Founder and CEO of SimpliFi, described the alliance as proof that technology can strengthen social bonds, pointing to safer and more efficient digital-first, multi-currency card issuance. And INFINIOS CEO Sherif Abdelsalam highlighted his company’s role in providing the global card rails, a technical detail perhaps, but a crucial one if this model is to scale.
Customers in Bahrain can already order the Floward Card through the company’s app or website, either on its own or alongside flowers for a fully personalised gift. Founded in 2017, Floward has grown into a full-scale e-commerce platform offering everything from premium flowers to cakes, chocolates and perfumes, all delivered same day through local last-mile networks. On the flip side, prepaid cards are nothing new, but this twist on gifting could resonate, definately among a younger, digital-first crowd. Whether it catches on elsewhere in the region is the bigger question, but for now, Floward seems chuffed to bits with this Bahrain debut.
