Saudi startup Ghanem raised another $1.
5 million, taking its pre-seed funding to $8.
6 million.
It lets people buy small property stakes from SAR 1,000, opening a "closed shop".
The platform has thousands of users and has paid monthly rental income "without delays".
Ghanem issued digital title deeds to 580 investors and linked directly with Saudi’s registry.
It is testing under a regulatory sandbox, with Sharia-approved products and tighter due diligence.
Saudi startup Ghanem has secured an additional $1.5 million in funding, taking the total size of its pre-seed round and extension to $8.6 million. The company, which focuses on fractional real estate ownership, said the new backing came from property firms and a group of strategic angel investors, following a run of operational milestones in the Saudi market.
The fresh capital builds on Ghanem’s earlier $7.1 million pre-seed round, which included Al Romaih Group, while Waad Investment has also backed the company. In simple terms, Ghanem is trying to make property investment less of a closed shop by letting people buy small shares in income-generating real estate, with entry tickets starting from SAR 1,000 depending on the opportunity. For many readers around Arageek, that kind of model will sound spot on for a region where property remains attractive, but getting in has often been a bit of a faff.
The company says it has already executed several property opportunities through its platform, attracted thousands of registered users and distributed rental income to investors monthly without delays. That matters more than flashy wording, I reckon, because in fractional ownership trust is half the game. If payouts are late or ownership papers feel vague, confidence can disappear in no time.
One detail that stands out is Ghanem’s first income-generating property offer on its app, where digital fractional title deeds were issued to 580 individuals to document their ownership stakes. And believe it or not, that kind of documentation can be the make-or-break point in proptech. People may like the idea of owning part of a building, but they still want proof with their name on it, not just a dashboard and a promise.
Ghanem has also signed and activated a digital integration with Saudi Arabia’s Real Estate Registry, known as RER. The link is now live, allowing fractional ownership to be documented and title deeds issued in investors’ names as part of a fully digital journey. The move is part of the company’s wider effort to strengthen its technical and operational infrastructure and make the investment process smoother.
A few months ago, the startup joined the regulatory sandbox run by the Real Estate General Authority, where it launched its fractional ownership product under regulatory supervision. On the flip side, sandbox participation does not remove all risk, but it does give startups room to test, tweak and prove the model before scaling. I’ve seen founders across MENA get chuffed to bits just reaching that stage, because getting a regulated product off the ground is rarely easy… well, I mean, especially in asset-heavy sectors like property.
Before any property is listed on the platform, Ghanem says it goes through verification, due diligence and valuation procedures, including ownership checks, document reviews and assessments by certified valuers. The company also noted that all its products have been approved by a Sharia committee, an important detail in Saudi Arabia’s investment landscape and one that could help broaden appeel among retail investors.
Commenting on the latest step, Saleh Alghamdi, Ghanem’s chief executive and co-founder, said the company is working to make real estate ownership more accessible through a clear digital experience and ownership documented in the investor’s own name. He said the business has completed property opportunities, brought in thousands of registered users, distributed monthly rental income without delays and activated its digital link with the Real Estate Registry, adding that these milestones give it a practical base to keep improving its services and investor experience.
Alghamdi also said the pre-seed extension offers important support for the next stage of the company’s journey. He pointed to investor confidence and the addition of property firms and strategic partners with direct market experience, saying Ghanem plans to use that expertise to develop its product, diversify property offerings and build partnerships that support the company’s growth while it continues refining its solutions inside the regulatory sandbox.
