NextEra and ServiceNow team up to boost digital transformation in Saudi Arabia and MENA.

They plan a proximity centre and digital skills hub at Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University.

The partnership focuses on local needs, with an Arabic user interface for addressing regional challenges.

Sectors like energy, finance, and government will benefit from modernised systems and increased agility.

The initiative supports local talent development in line with Vision 2030 goals.

NextEra, a joint venture born of LTIMindtree and Aramco Digital, has just inked a major partnership with ServiceNow, aiming to speed up digital transformation across Saudi Arabia and—by extension—the wider MENA region. To be honest, digital transformation sometimes sounds a bit like a buzzword, but here it comes with tangible steps: they’re establishing a proximity centre at Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University in Dammam, while ServiceNow is rolling out a Centre of Excellence to equip the local workforce with digital skills. That’s not just talk; it reflects something we at Arageek see all too often—the region’s young population hungry for tech skills, eager for a fair shot.

What sets this collaboration apart is the blend of ServiceNow’s smart workflow platform with NextEra’s expertise, especially with the Agentic Central solutions built directly on ServiceNow’s tech stack. The idea is to bring fast-tracked rollout of AI and automation to industries that have typically been a bit slow off the mark. And here’s a key detail that made me sit up: the partnership is focusing on an Arabic user interface, with solutions built for real regional pain-points. I reckon that’s spot on; too often, global players come in with cookie-cutter products that don’t tally with local business challenges. It’s clever to go local from the start.

NextEra and ServiceNow are both zeroing in on sectors like energy, banking and finance, government, and of course the grand giga-projects that Saudi Arabia keeps announcing with fanfare. The promise? Modernise lumbering legacy systems, freshen up CRM and employee experience, and—maybe most crucially—help regional organisations become more nimble. All this is supposed to drive that holy grail: operational excellence. Now, whether they’ll truly manage to cut through the red tape and move things at pace is still up in the air, but the intent is clear enough.

Dina Aboonoq, CEO at NextEra and Executive VP at LTIMindtree, commented that this union “represents a bold step forward” and shows a commitment to nurturing local talent, not just importing solutions. On the flip side, Saif Mashat, ServiceNow’s Area Vice President for MEA, mentioned their focus on “unlocking new levels of agility and growth” for customers. Sounds ambitious, but we’ve all seen projects fizzle out when the big promises run up against reality.

From my side, and from my time watching MENA startups try to turn ideas into sustainable ventures, genuine local impact usually wins out against imported quick fixes. That said, partnerships like this—where global and local forces work hand in hand—could well be the real game-changer, especially as Saudi Arabia pushes hard with Vision 2030 and Saudization. I’m not a fan of overhyping anything, but having centres that actually train up local talent (rather than just ticking boxes) would be a breath of fresh air.

NextEra seems set on becoming a cornerstone of the digital future in Saudi, offering AI, cloud, Industry 4.0 and green tech under the same roof. If they can keep their feet on the ground and deliver as promised—well... it won't just be the big companies who are chuffed to bits, but also the next gen of MENA entrepreneurs, who know first-hand how grating it is to be left out of the tech conversation. Of course, only time will tell if this partnership gets beyond the fanfare and delivers something tangible. But from what’s been announced, the building blocks are definately in place.
