Snoonu aims to export "innovation developed in Qatar" to global markets.
Snoonu, the Qatari tech company many in the region first knew as a delivery app, has taken a rather bold step. It has officially launched Snoonu Cloud, a new platform designed to help governments and businesses build and scale their own digital ecosystems.
At first glance, it might sound like yet another cloud announcement, and letās be honest, the industry is full of them. But this one signals something bigger. Snoonu is shifting from being a super app serving end users to becoming a technology infrastructure provider. Thatās not a small pivot. Itās the kind of move that says: weāve built something that works, and now weāre ready to let others build on it too.
Snoonu Cloud operates as a platform-as-a-service (PaaS) model. In simple terms, it allows partners to replicate Snoonuās integrated setup, covering commerce, logistics, and digital services, and plug it into their own markets. So instead of starting from scratch, governments or companies can deploy a ready-made digital framework tailored to local needs. Itās about cutting the faff and speeding up digital transformation.
Over the past few years, Snoonu has expanded well beyond deliveries. It has woven together multiple verticals into what it describes as one of Qatarās most integrated digital ecosystems. Now, that model is being productised and offered externally. On the flip side, this also means Qatar is positioning itself not just as a buyer of global tech, but as an exporter of it, and thatās a narrative we donāt hear often enough in the region.
The company says Snoonu Cloud is powered by advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, scalable cloud architecture, and data-driven systems. The goal is clear: enable partners to build, launch, and scale their own ecosystems faster, while supporting local businesses and entrepreneurs along the way. That could translate into job creation, knowledge transfer, and stronger domestic digital capabilities.
For those following Qatarās broader strategy, the move sits neatly within the ambitions of Qatar National Vision 2030, particularly the push towards a knowledge-based economy. Building digital infrastructure that can travel beyond national borders? Thatās spot on with that agenda.
Commenting on the launch, Snoonuās Founder and CEO Hamad Al Hajri described Snoonu Cloud as a natural evolution of the companyās journey. He said the company began by addressing everyday challenges and is now enabling full ecosystems to be created from the ground up, adding that it demonstrates how innovation developed in Qatar can compete globally.
Abdulaziz Alqahtani, General Manager of S Cloud & Robotics at Snoonu, added that the aim is to transform Snoonuās technology into a platform others can build on, giving governments and businesses the infrastructure needed to launch and scale digital ecosystems efficiently, while adapting to local market demands.
I remember speaking to founders across the GCC who often said the hardest part wasnāt the idea, it was stitching together logistics, payments, and customer data in one smooth flow. It was a bit of a headache, honestly. Platforms like this, if executed well, could remove some of that friction. And believe it or not, thatās sometimes the difference between a startup surviving or folding.
Of course, exporting tech infrastructure is not without challenges. Each market brings its own regulations, consumer behaviours, and operational quirks. Still, I reckon this is a confident bet from Snoonu. Instead of staying comfortably within the super app label, it is stepping into the far more complex world of infrastructure. Thatās definately a tougher arena.
As Snoonu continues its expansion across the GCC and beyond, Snoonu Cloud marks a new chapter, not just for the company, but for Qatarās broader tech ecosystem. If homegrown startups can turn their internal systems into exportable platforms, well⦠I mean, that shifts the whole conversation about where innovation in the region really comes from. And for many readers at Arageek who root for MENA-born success stories, thatās a development worth watching closely.
