Ankabut Teams Up with WeVideo to Elevate Digital Learning in UAE

Ankabut partners with WeVideo to expand video-based learning across UAE universities, schools and training providers.
The cloud platform boosts “interactive content” and practical creativity beyond traditional written assessments.
The deal supports the UAE’s digital education goals and “knowledge-based economy” ambitions.
Ankabut becomes WeVideo’s main go-to-market partner across the GCC.
Both sides see video learning as a baseline, not a passing trend.
Ankabut, the UAE’s national research and education network, has signed a new partnership with WeVideo that aims to push video-based learning and digital creativity further across the UAE and the wider GCC. The agreement brings WeVideo’s cloud-based video learning platform into Ankabut’s growing portfolio of education technology tools, with a clear eye on supporting the country’s broader innovation and digital transformation goals.
At first glance, video editing software might sound like a bit of a faff for already busy schools and universities. But in practice, tools like WeVideo have become a cornerstone of how modern classrooms work, especially when collaboration and creativity are no longer “nice to have” but essential skills. The idea here is to give universities, K–12 schools and even workforce training providers simple, intuitive ways to create interactive content and encourage students to actually show what they know, rather than just write it down.
This move sits neatly alongside the UAE’s long-term education ambitions, including frameworks such as the National Strategy for Higher Education 2030, which place digital excellence at the heart of learning. And believe it or not, I’ve seen how much of a difference this can make. Years ago, while covering an early edtech startup pitch in the region, a founder demoed a rough video assignment tool that had students far more engaged than any textbook ever did. It’s one of those moments that sticks with you, you know?
Tarek Jundi, Chief Executive Officer of Ankabut, said the integration of WeVideo responds to a growing demand for more engaging, active learning tools. He noted that video, when used well, can help institutions stay aligned with global education trends while supporting the UAE’s push towards a knowledge-based economy.
From WeVideo’s side, the partnership is also about regional expansion. Chief Executive Officer Kevin Knight said working with Ankabut gives the platform a strong local anchor in the GCC, combining WeVideo’s technology with Ankabut’s deep relationships across education and research institutions. The goal, he explained, is to help educators and students tell their stories and demonstrate learning in more creative, collaborative ways.
Under the framework agreement, Ankabut will act as WeVideo’s main go-to-market partner across the GCC, helping with integration into institutions and national digital learning initiatives. That detail matters, because plenty of edtech deals sound spot on in press releases but struggle when it comes to real-world rollout. On the flip side, Ankabut’s infrastructure and experience as a national network could smooth a lot of those bumps.
For readers who follow Arageek, this kind of partnership feels very much in line with what we see across the region: practical technology, tied to national strategy, with a clear use case in classrooms today. I reckon video-based learning, done properly, is no longer a trend but a baseline. Whether every institution adopts it at the same pace is another question, but the direction of travel is pretty clear… and it’s definately pointing towards more creative, digital-first education across the GCC.
