Zid is entering the Egyptian market through a strategic partnership with Zammit.

Zammit will lead operations for Zid in Egypt, including sales and technical support.

The partnership aims to merge both ecosystems while maintaining each brand's identity.

Plans include migrating Zid’s products and setting up a regional tech hub in Egypt.

This collaboration highlights the growing cross-border entrepreneurial activities within the MENA region.

Zid, the Saudi-based e-commerce enabler that’s been gaining serious traction across MENA, has just announced its official entry into the Egyptian market through a strategic partnership with Zammit, a Cairo-born startup that’s been helping local businesses set up and manage online stores since 2020.

Now, this isn’t just a handshake deal. Under the agreement, Zammit will take the operational lead for Zid in Egypt — handling everything from local sales and merchant onboarding to technical support and expansion plans for other African markets. The company’s management team will oversee the integration of operations and technology, aiming to merge both ecosystems while keeping each brand’s identity intact.

Mazen Al-Darrab, Zid’s CEO, said the move signals trust in Egypt’s entrepreneurial spirit and demonstrates a genuine belief in building locally from the ground up. And frankly, I reckon he’s spot on. Egypt’s startup scene has been buzzing, and this partnership could well fuel more cross-border collaboration within the region.

The deal also includes the migration of Zid’s products and infrastructure to the Egyptian platform’s system, along with plans to set up a regional tech hub in Egypt — a smart move, given the country’s growing talent pool in software development. The partnership officially kicks off on 6 November 2025.

I remember chatting with a few founders at a startup boot camp in Cairo earlier this year — they often mentioned how scaling operations beyond Egypt was a bit of a faff without access to strong tech integrations and regional logistics partners. This tie-up might just make that smoother.

Zid, for context, has been building a full-fledged infrastructure for online commerce across the Middle East. Zammit, meanwhile, has made a name by providing user-friendly SaaS tools for businesses to launch and manage their digital storefronts. It’s a natural pairing, you could say — two sides of the same coin, each bringing different strengths to the table.

That said, the success of this partnership will depend on execution. Expanding into a new market is never a walk in the park, especially one as competitive (and yet promising) as Egypt. But if they get it right, both companies could be chuffed to bits with what comes next.

At Arageek, we’ve always been passionate about seeing MENA startups push boundaries and collaborate across borders — and this feels like one of those moments where the region’s entrepreneurial drive truly shines. Well… let’s wait and see how this story unfolds, but it’s definately one to watch.
