BEEAH and The Hashgraph Group Launch Blockchain-Based Digital ID System in UAE

3 min
BEEAH Group partners with The Hashgraph Group to launch a decentralised digital identity system, IDTrust.
Powered by Hedera’s distributed ledger technology, it connects BEEAH's environmental, energy, and healthcare sectors.
This foundational step aims to streamline digital experiences for employees and partners initially.
The rollout plans to expand further, possibly involving UAE city or government bodies later.
The initiative could position BEEAH as a regional leader in urban digital identity innovation.
It looks like Sharjah-based BEEAH Group is doubling down on its digital transformation goals with a rather bold step — teaming up with The Hashgraph Group (THG) to roll out a decentralised digital identity (DID) system across its diverse businesses. The partnership, sealed at GITEX Global 2025, signals a growing appetite in the region for secure, transparent identity solutions built on blockchain-style technology.
The digital identity platform, dubbed IDTrust, is powered by Hedera’s distributed ledger technology and supported by The Hashgraph Association. What makes this move interesting is not just the tech behind it, but how it fits into BEEAH’s bigger picture — linking up its different verticals in environment, energy, real estate, technology, and healthcare under one trusted digital roof. I've seen BEEAH’s sustainability drive before, and honestly, their constant reinvention is spot on.
BEEAH’s Group CEO and Vice Chairman Khaled Al Huraimel described this as a “foundational step” towards a seamless digital experience for everyone connected to their ecosystem — from employees and customers to residents and partners. It’s hard to argue with that approach when the UAE itself is pushing smart governance pretty aggressively.
What’s neat is that the rollout won’t happen overnight. BEEAH’s starting small — internal identity management for employees and partners — before scaling up to things like smart real estate projects and healthcare facilities. If all goes well, they plan to extend it to wider stakeholder groups, possibly working alongside city or government bodies in the UAE. On the flip side, adopting emerging tech across so many business areas could be, well… a bit of a faff at first.
According to Kamal Youssefi, President of The Hashgraph Association, this partnership is a reflection of the MENA region’s “innovative leadership” in embracing cutting-edge tech. And having followed similar moves elsewhere, I reckon he’s got a fair point.
As for IDTrust itself, it’s built with quantum-secure cryptography, giving it a future-proof edge for verifying everything from banking and KYC to property deeds and even medical records. THG’s CEO Stefan Deiss called it a "privacy-first self-sovereign identity framework" — essentially putting more power in people’s hands when it comes to their data.
Market watchers are also taking note. Grand View Research pegged the global decentralised digital identity market at USD 647.8 million in 2022, and it’s expected to soar to a jaw-dropping USD 102 billion by 2030. I mean, that’s not just growth — that’s a rocket.
At Arageek, we’re always fascinated by how MENA companies like BEEAH are leaning into advanced tech to solve very local challenges — from waste management to urban planning. Once, while visiting a sustainability forum in the UAE, I remember a panellist joking that “data is the new oil, but cleaner.” Watching moves like this, that old quip suddenly feels bang on.
If this partnership hits its stride, BEEAH could well become a regional model for how decentralised identity shapes the next phase of urban innovation. And although the road ahead may be rocky — big transformations usually are — this one definately feels like a step worth taking.
