The fifth anniversary of Egypt’s Entrepreneur Awards turned into quite the spectacle this year, drawing more than a thousand founders, business leaders and ecosystem supporters to the Grand Egyptian Museum on 21 November. I’ve always found that events like this have a special kind of energy — a bit like when I first started covering early‑stage founders for Arageek years ago. You can feel the ambition buzzing in the air, even if the traffic getting there is a bit of a faff.

High-profile public figures were among the crowd, including Dr Rania Al-Mashat, Egypt’s Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, along with former Minister of Education and Technical Education Dr Tarek Shawky. Their attendance added weight to a night built around celebrating excellence across 15 award categories, highlighting startups and innovators who are helping reshape Egypt’s growing entrepreneurial scene.

This year also marked the fourth consecutive edition where Tatweer Misr stepped in as Strategic Partner — a role that seems to underline its ongoing commitment to backing talent and helping high-potential startups transform their ideas into real companies. I reckon there aren’t many corporate partnerships in the region that have stayed this steady for this long.

Reflecting on the journey, Amr Mansi, Founder and CEO of ievents and the mind behind the EEA, spoke about the theme of “Five Years of Impact,” noting how the platform has watched startups evolve, pivot and sometimes completely reinvent themselves. His comments pointed to the resilience of Egyptian entrepreneurs who’ve had to navigate more than a few storms, and yet still manage to push boundaries across multiple sectors.

From Tatweer Misr’s side, CCO Karim Radwan highlighted how the partnership with ievents has grown into something built on “shared vision, trust, and effective teamwork,” adding that the last four years have brought real progress to the wider ecosystem. And believe it or not, hearing that reminded me of a founder I met last year who told me that simply being shortlisted for these awards pushed his team to refine their product far beyond what they thought possible.

The evening honoured winners across a wide range of fields: WideBot took home the AI Excellence & Deeptech Award; Asfoura Books was recognised for AI Creative Storytelling; and PÀO grabbed the Social Dining Award. iRead won for Cultural Innovation, while iSchool stood out in Innovation in Education. Other categories highlighted fashion, fintech, sustainability and sports, with companies like Cloud, Sahl, Jadeed, Mylerz and TimeOut Sports Management all making the list. The Disruptive Duo for Market Innovations Award went to Engazaat Agro & Nestlé, while Exit earned the Rising Star Award. Quite the lineup, and spot on in terms of showing just how varied the entrepreneurial space has become.

The awards themselves are presented by ievents and powered by Tatweer Misr, a partnership recently renewed for three more editions. Vodafone Business also joined as the Official Technology Partner for the next three cycles, strengthening its role in supporting SMEs. The event was hosted by Hassan Allam Holding, with EGBANK serving as Official Bank Partner and Nestlé taking on Sustainability Partner duties.

On the media front, Startup Scene continued its role as Media Partner, and Concrete returned as the Official Fashion Partner for the fourth year running. The wider support network was equally robust: talabat Egypt, The Sage Experience, LOGIC Consulting, Influence Group and 16 Dash all contributed in different capacities, from sponsorship to digital support. Additional partnerships this year included Asharq Bloomberg as Regional Media Partner and Entlaq as Think Tank Partner. AmCham Egypt, El-Naggar & Partners Law Firm, and Smashi Business were also involved as ecosystem partners helping guide the winners beyond the ceremony.

All in all, the night felt like another reminder of how fast the entrepreneurial world in Egypt is moving — sometimes so fast it’s hard to keep up, you know? But moments like this show why so many people across the region, including many of us at Arageek, stay chuffed to bits watching new founders step into the spotlight. And if the momentum continues, the next five years might be even more interesting… or at least, I hope so, because change in this space is definately never dull.
