Emarat Fuels New Expansion: Partners with Armenia’s MegaTrade for Service Stations

3 min
Emarat partners with Armenia's MegaTrade to launch branded service stations, enhancing local energy infrastructure.
Dignitaries, including Yerevan's mayor and UAE's ambassador, attended the signing in Armenia.
This partnership promises better services, higher standards, and international safety protocols for fuel stations.
The move aims to create new jobs, boost investor confidence, and encourage further Gulf region investments.
Despite challenges, Emarat's and MegaTrade's collaboration could redefine Armenia's fuel and energy sector.
Thereās something quite poetic about the UAEās energy giant Emarat setting up shop in Armeniaāa small nation with a growing appetite for modern infrastructure and international partnerships. The company, officially Emirates Petroleum Company PJSC, has teamed up with MegaTrade, one of Armeniaās leading energy firms and part of the well-established SIL Capital group, to launch Emarat-branded service stations across the country. Not bad for a collaboration that only began taking shape a short while ago.
The deal was sealed at Yerevanās Albert Hall, with plenty of dignitaries in attendanceāamong them the cityās mayor, Tigran Avinyan, and the UAEās ambassador, Dr Nariman Mohd Sharif Abdulla Al Mulla. The signing itself was handled by Eduard Sukiasyan of SIL Capital and Emarat chief Ali Khalifa Al Shamsi. Formalities aside, this is the sort of cross-border cooperation that speaks volumes about how the regionās fuel and energy sectors are maturing.
Sukiasyan called the partnership āa new chapter in Armeniaās fuel and energy sector,ā stressing that the blend of Emaratās international know-how and MegaTradeās local footing would bring better services and higher standards. And truth be told, heās probably spot onāArmeniaās fuel market has long needed a bit of a facelift. Al Shamsi, for his part, noted that the move marked āa defining stepā in Emaratās regional journey, one built around international safety, fuel quality and a focus on community development.
Whatās especially striking here is that Emarat isnāt just exporting a brand; itās exporting a whole service model. The partnership aims to roll out a scalable network of stations across Armenia, complete with the kind of clean design, customer care, and safety protocols that Emarat is already known for back home. I reckon the ripple effect could be hugeānew jobs, a lift in investor confidence, maybe even a nudge for other Gulf businesses eyeing the Caucasus.
Now, for some background: Emarat has been around since 1981, set up by the UAE government with a mission to supply reliable fuel, lubricants, and logistics services. Itās built a solid reputation for marrying innovation with a sense of traditionāsomething we at Arageek tend to admire in the startup scene too, though on a very different playing field! MegaTrade is much younger, founded in 2020, but itās already one of Armeniaās major players thanks to its bitumen production plant in Surenavan, which pumps out some 300 tons daily. Pairing that kind of domestic capacity with Emaratās operational expertise seems, well⦠a pretty clever move.
On the flip side, expanding internationally is never just a walk in the park. Integrating systems, sustaining standards and adapting to local expectationsābit of a faff reallyābut with SIL Capitalās diversified backing, thereās every reason to think this project could become a model for others.
At the heart of it all, this isnāt just about petrol pumps. Itās about confidence, trust, and the small but powerful idea that regional collaboration still counts for something in a fragmenting world. And as someone whoās seen more than a few regional ventures falter at the first hurdle, Iām cautiously optimistic that this one might actually deliver. Maybe thatās me being a touch sentimental, but hey, nothing wrong with being hopeful, right?
Either way, this agreement sets Armenia on course for a notable shift in its energy landscapeāand Emarat and MegaTrade seem chuffed to bits to lead the charge.
