Saudi Arabia’s SILZ Unveils Ambitious Logistics Vision at Web Summit 2025

Saudi Arabia's logistics landscape is evolving with SILZ joining the Invest Saudi team at Web Summit Lisbon 2025.
SILZ, created in 2022, manages the Riyadh Integrated Logistics Zone, encompassing three million square metres.
Notable companies like Lenovo and Chalhoub Group are setting up operations within this logistics hub.
SILZ offers enticing incentives, including tax relief and 100% foreign ownership, attracting global investors.
Balancing growth with sustainability remains a critical focus as SILZ shapes the future of logistics.
Saudi Arabia’s push to become a global hub for logistics and digital innovation got another boost this week, with the Special Integrated Logistics Zone Company — better known as SILZ — joining the Invest Saudi delegation at Web Summit Lisbon 2025. The company used the global stage to highlight how the Kingdom’s USD 76 billion digital economy and rapidly expanding logistics scene are converging to reshape trade and investment in the region.
Now, for those who might not have followed the story, SILZ was created back in 2022 as part of a broader plan to drive diversification and global connectivity. It’s the developer and operator behind **Riyadh Integrated**, Saudi Arabia’s first Special Integrated Logistics Zone (SILZ, fittingly). The project spans an impressive three million square metres near King Khalid International Airport, and it’s already become a magnet for key players in logistics, e-commerce, and manufacturing.
In fact, about 55% of the first phase has been booked. Lenovo, for example, is setting up a 200,000-square-metre factory, while Chalhoub Group is building a regional logistics hub on 40,000 square metres. They’re joined by other big names like Unipart Logistics, Bahri, CJ Logistics, SHEIN, iHerb, and Sapphire. Frankly, that lineup would turn heads at any logistics summit.
During the event in Lisbon, SILZ’s representatives positioned the company as a cornerstone of Saudi Arabia’s strategy to connect East and West through smart infrastructure, innovation and digitalised trade systems. The wider Saudi tech landscape is already deep in transformation — more than USD 14.9 billion invested in technology, 20 subsea cables stitching together global routes, and data centres with a muscle power of 1,300 megawatts. Bit of a mouthful, but it shows just how serious they are about taking logistics to the next level.
One thing I find quite spot on is how SILZ offers investor-friendly incentives: tax relief for up to 50 years, 100% foreign ownership, and direct airport access. For logistics firms, that’s not just convenient — it’s a game-changer. And believe it or not, the company has already been named *Logistics Hub of the Year* for its role in driving more than 60,000 local jobs.
That said, the real test will come with how well Riyadh Integrated balances its ambitious growth targets with sustainability and operational efficiency. In a world obsessed with speed and automation, maintaining quality service can be a bit of a faff. I reckon SILZ has the makings of something big, provided it keeps innovation at the heart of its operations.
Over at Arageek, we’ve met plenty of founders across MENA who look at projects like this with a mix of awe and inspiration. It’s a reminder that big ideas need big infrastructure — and, well… Saudi Arabia seems determind to supply it.
If you happen to be at Web Summit, SILZ can be found at the Invest Saudi pavilion, stand E251. Might be worth a visit — after all, it’s not every day you get to see how a country is literally building a logistics future from the ground up.
