stc Bahrain has launched 'EMERGE', an internship programme for Bahraini youth.

Here’s a rather heartening bit of news coming out of Manama; stc Bahrain has just rolled out their exciting new internship programme, aptly named 'EMERGE'. It's designed specifically to provide Bahraini youth with hands-on experience and practical guidance, helping them tackle the realities of a swiftly-changing job market.

The name itself—EMERGE—is a bit of a giveaway, reflecting the transformative experience these interns are expected to go through, emerging not only job-ready but confident and resilient too. And I reckon it's refreshing to see a company focus not just on technical aspects but also on personal growth.

To their credit, stc Bahrain have spent well over the last decade bridging the gap between theoretical learning and real corporate life. Interestingly enough, they've clocked an impressive 80,000 hours of internship and summer training since 2010. This year's programme boasts 22 budding professionals, with dedicated placements reserved particularly for beneficiaries of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF)—a nice touch that underscores their dedication to community improvement.

Fahad Alowaini, stc Bahrain's Chief Human Resources Officer, captured the sentiment succinctly, saying the 'EMERGE' initiative embodies the company's commitment to nurturing young national talents. “We continuously enhance our internship programs to align with local market needs and the rapidly growing telecommunications and technology sectors,” he explained. And believe it or not, given how fast technology evolves these days—you blink and suddenly AI’s everywhere—I think he’s spot on.

The two-month summer scheme promises to keep interns busy with in-depth training covering all manner of useful business skills: corporate presentation design, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and even inventive approaches like design thinking (which, as readers of Arageek will appreciate, is pretty valuable these days). Participants also get to attend a three-day crash course in project management, courtesy of the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF), plus a rather insightful two-day 'iCAMP' workshop from INJAZ Bahrain, sharpening their leadership and problem-solving chops.

Impressively, stc Bahrain hasn’t stopped there—they've teamed up strategically with several major universities across the Kingdom, such as the American University of Bahrain, Royal University for Women, and Bahrain Polytechnic, among others. In doing so, they guarantee internship slots for students and employees both in summer and winter sessions, making it easier for the country's eager young marketers, designers, and entrepreneurs to step up.

Well… I mean I’m not a fan of overly corporate jargon itself, but you’ve got to hand it to stc. It genuinely looks like they're delivering real-world value with 'EMERGE', aiming squarely to bolster the country's young talent. Hats off to initiatives like this because backing the next generation is never a waste of effort.
