Wuilt secured $2 million in funding to fuel expansion across the region.

They eliminated paid subscriptions in Egypt, offering free basic e-commerce tools to entrepreneurs.

Paid features like Wuilt Shipments and Wuilt Wallet remain available for enhanced services.

Wuilt plans to launch free services in UAE by late 2025, expanding to Gulf and Turkey next.

They are developing AI-powered tools to boost efficiency for shop owners.

Wuilt, the Egyptian company focused on e-commerce solutions, has just pulled off a $2 million funding round to ramp up its expansion plans and bolster its offering for individuals and businesses across the region. The latest injection of cash comes courtesy of a lineup of backers including Flat6Labs, MTF VC, Hub71, JIMCO (part of the Abdul Latif Jameel group), Purity Tech, and several angel investors thrown into the mix for good measure.

Now, what caught my eye is just how quickly Wuilt has adapted its business model. Earlier this year, around April, the team made a big move by scrapping their paid subscriptions entirely… at least for their core service inside Egypt. Instead, anyone can get started with a basic online shop, product management, and integrated payment and shipment features without paying a monthly fee. Honestly, that shift is spot on if you’re looking to get masses of would-be entrepreneurs up and running. And evidently, it’s paid off: over 20,000 merchants signed up in a flash.

Here’s the clever bit: while the essentials are now up for grabs free of charge, Wuilt has left the door open for paid extras. Think tools like Wuilt Shipments, Wuilt Pay, and Wuilt Wallet—each one designed to help businesses move the needle a little further, if you’re willing to pay for that convenience.

Looking ahead, Wuilt isn’t resting on its laurels. The company plans to offer its free service in the UAE in the last quarter of 2025, and then eye up wider Gulf markets and even Turkey by early 2026. On the flip side, they say they’re also cooking up a host of AI-powered features aimed squarely at helping shop owners operate more efficiently—a move I reckon could seperate the serious players from the also-rans.

From where I’m standing, watching startups in MENA make digital entrepreneurship less of a faff is incredibly energising. At Arageek we’ve seen time and again how access to practical, affordable solutions can transform the ambitions of small business owners (and let’s be honest, nothing beats the feeling when a local idea goes regional). So, whether you’re already running a shop or just daydreaming about starting one, this wave of innovation is definately one to keep an eye on.
