Zain Kuwait is continuing its strong partnership with CODED Academy this year, underscoring their commitment to the popular Kuwait Codes initiative. This marks the fourth year that Zain have stepped up as a strategic partner, clearly keen on playing their part to prepare young Kuwaitis for a digital-focussed future.
The announcement was made at a media gathering held at Kuwait University’s Cultural Centre in Shadadiya, attended by representatives of both organisations. Among those attending were Faisal Al-Duwaihees from Zain’s Corporate Affairs division and Ahmed Marafi, who co-founded CODED Academy and now serves as its CEO. By the sounds of it, the continuing teamwork between these two institutions is certainly going from strength to strength.
Speaking at the press conference, Al-Duwaihees outlined exactly how crucial such projects have become to Zain’s efforts in promoting digital transformation. He mentioned their previous successes, proudly sharing that more than 3,500 young Kuwaiti coders have been trained through Kuwait Codes so far, noting that it's become an integral part of the company's corporate sustainability efforts. Al-Duwaihees highlighted Zain's role: "Initiatives like this really show Zain's dedication to corporate social responsibility as well as our determination to empower local talent with the digital skillset they'll need for tomorrow’s challenges."
He also expressed pride in supporting a range of CODED Academy’s programs, such as Academy X and the Kuwait Hackathon, alongside Kuwait Codes itself. Clearly, Zain’s backing has helped the academy to establish a solid foothold among Kuwait’s tech-savvy youth.
CODED Academy’s Ahmed Marafi returned the compliment, showing gratitude toward Zain and emphasising the positive impact their support has had on Kuwaiti youth. He said, “Thanks to strategic partners like Zain, we've been able to offer thousands of students free training in essential tech skills. It’s made a huge difference, helping our young people not just locally but internationally too.” He went on to underline the significance of students acquiring practical, real-world skills to confidently break into the competitive digital job market.
This upcoming season for Kuwait Codes aims to see approximately 1,000 pupils from local high schools and ninth-grade classes develop their technical talents further. Areas covered will range from app creation and web development through to artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. Students will get the chance to sharpen their Python programming abilities and delve into advanced fields like data science, making it quite the opportunity for anyone looking to become the tech innovators of Kuwait’s future.
I chatted briefly last weekend with a close friend of mine whose younger sister attended the programme last year. She said it was an eye-opening experience, adding, "Honestly, she went from barely knowing Python existed to coding full-on mini-projects. It gave her so much confidence—she's even considering a tech degree at university."
It's clear initiatives like Kuwait Codes are not only equipping young Kuwaitis with relevant skills but also inspiring genuine enthusiasm for careers in tech. CODED Academy certainly seems committed to this mission. With Zain maintaining strong support behind the scenes, Kuwaiti students are getting fantastic chances to flourish—in school, in work, and in life.
The partnership between these two organisations highlights clearly just what can be achieved when industry and educational institutions team up. As Arageek readers already know, collaborations like this make a huge difference in shaping the future workforce, preparing young people for what’s needed in an increasingly digitally-driven world.
