Long-term goals include a robust presence in the Saudi market and enhanced cyber resilience.

Group-IB has teamed up with VAS Integrated Solutions in a move that feels very much in line with Saudi Arabia’s growing appetite for stronger cybersecurity foundations. The two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Riyadh during Black Hat MEA, setting the stage for a partnership that leans heavily on shared expertise, market reach, and a push toward better awareness across the Kingdom. I’ve seen plenty of collaborations come and go in the region, but this one seems, well… spot on for the moment Saudi businesses find themselves in.

The agreement brings together Group-IB’s adversary‑centric approach to threat intelligence and VAS’s network of local partners, which I reckon could make the delivery of advanced cyber and fraud‑fighting tools far smoother. Group-IB’s model, built around its Digital Crime Resistance Center in the Middle East and Africa, focuses on predicting and countering attacks with regional context—something many organisations here have been crying out for as digital transformation accelerates at breakneck speed.

On the flip side, VAS offers exactly what global cybersecurity firms often need: real on‑the‑ground access and the kind of partner ecosystem that actually gets solutions into the hands of local companies. Trust me, from what I’ve watched in the MENA startup scene through Arageek’s work with founders, this part is usually a bit of a faff, so seeing both sides address it directly is refreshing.

The MoU also goes beyond the usual commercial objectives. Both companies plan to roll out joint workshops, webinars, and training programmes to boost awareness around online safety and fraud prevention—areas where many SMEs in the region still struggle. There’s even talk of joining advisory groups focused on national‑level cybersecurity awareness. And believe it or not, these softer initiatives often end up having a bigger impact than the flashy tech itself.

Mohammad Flaifel, Regional Sales Director for KSA and Türkiye at Group‑IB, described the partnership as a step toward strengthening the firm’s long‑term channel strategy in the Kingdom, highlighting its commitment to a safer digital environment and a stronger presence in the local market. Meanwhile, Bilal Abdulrahman, who leads VAS in KSA and the GCC, said the collaboration aims to equip businesses with the tools and knowledge they need to stay ahead of fast‑moving threats—something every company here is painfully aware of after a few tough years of escalating attacks.

All in all, the partnership feels timely and definately aligned with Saudi Arabia’s digital ambitions. It’s still early days, of course, but if both sides deliver on their promises, this could be one of those collaborations that actually sticks rather than fading into the background.
