Ransomware attacks and data breaches are increasingly challenging businesses globally, according to Rubrik Zero Labs.

Rubrik and Rackspace Technology have joined forces to create the Rackspace Cyber Recovery Service.

This service aims to rapidly restore data and workloads after cyber attacks in the cloud.

Using AI and zero-trust frameworks, the service offers swift, automated recovery and security solutions.

Launching in April 2025, this solution is crucial for adapting to complex digital transformation risks.

Cybersecurity threats have certainly intensified lately, with many businesses facing increasingly sophisticated ransomware attacks and data breaches. Recent statistics from Rubrik Zero Labs show how widespread the issue has become—about 90% of IT and security executives across Europe, the Middle East and Africa admitted facing at least one cyber attack over the past year alone. Not exactly comforting figures for anyone managing sensitive data, to put it mildly.

Given these eye-opening findings, Middle Eastern enterprises, striving to hit ambitious regional targets such as Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, have a new service to bolster their digital defences. Rubrik, an established leader in cyber resilience tech, and Rackspace Technology, known for its expertise in AI and hybrid cloud solutions, have revealed their jointly developed Rackspace Cyber Recovery Service. This service could be a game-changer, helping organisations rapidly recover from cyber attacks in the public cloud environment.

According to the companies, the managed Rackspace Cyber Recovery Service pairs Rubrik's powerful data backup and recovery systems—built upon zero-trust frameworks and aggregates that guarantee data immutability—with Rackspace's strong DevOps-driven processes. Utilising Infrastructure as Code and Recovery as Code principles, the service essentially automates data and workload restoration across diverse cloud ecosystems. To put it simply, it's designed to deliver rapid recovery, limiting downtime to hours rather than days. That's an impressive step up, considering how frustrating it is for businesses to navigate fragmented recovery procedures and questionable backups after facing ransomware attacks.

The Middle East region has definitely embraced digital transformation at pace—whether it's new fintech apps springing up all around Dubai or Saudi Arabia heavily investing in data centres. This digitalisation surge brings greater cyber risks. With cloud environments getting more complicated by the day, IT leaders desperately want reliable recovery and robust security measures that can adapt quickly in crises. The hope, as Rubrik's Vice President of Global Channels and Alliances Ghazal Asif explained, is that the partnership will provide precisely this proactive, engineered approach to cyber resilience specifically tailored for distributed workloads in the public cloud.

DK Sinha, Rackspace Technology’s President for Public Cloud, also underscored that “traditional recovery methods simply aren't effective enough anymore,” adding that modern challenges pose newer threats which require cloud-native tools and specialised expertise.

Apparently, the Cyber Recovery Service starts with a tailored transformation project led by Rackspace specialists who streamline recovery architectures and automate restoration processes. Once achieved, these strategies turn into long-term, fully managed solutions. The service also uses Rubrik's AI-driven capabilities to swiftly identify potential threats and contain any attacks, helping data remain clean and trustworthy throughout the recovery process.

The date for this new service to launch was officially anounced as 30 April 2025—and that might sound a bit far off, but given the careful planning involved, perhaps patience really is a virtue.

In this brave new world, a solid recovery strategy and smarter protection measures aren't just desirable—they're absolutely crucial. Whether you’re a regular reader here at Arageek or someone entirely unfamiliar, the point remains the same—cyber threats today move fast, hitting businesses big and small without discrimination. So, seeing forward-thinking solutions like this popping up is, surely, a breath of fresh air.
