VidMatic’s backing may sharpen discovery features as Declic scales, while keeping a community-first feel.

Saudi startup Declic has closed a $1 million seed round, a tidy cheque led by VidMatic Digital DMCC, a company known for its work in digital advertising solutions. The funding lands at a moment when many founders across the region are hunting for smarter ways to bring people together, both online and in real life, and honestly… it feels spot on.

Declic bills itself as an AI-powered social app, but the idea is fairly grounded. It is built around helping people discover and organise real-world and virtual events, manage ticketing, and grow local communities, all in one place. I’ve seen plenty of event tools over the years around MENA, and juggling different platforms is a bit of a faff. This one aims to cut through that.

Founded in 2024 by Dr Alice Othmani, Brijesh Prajapati and Paul K., the company is headquartered in Saudi Arabia and is betting on a simple premise: people still want meaningful, face-to-face connections, even when tech is doing most of the heavy lifting. The business makes money through premium subscriptions and by selling individual tickets for events and social meet-ups, with a strong emphasis on boosting attendance and engagement.

The fresh capital will go towards accelerating Declic’s growth and supporting its regional expansion. The app is already live in Tunisia and Morocco, and the next stop is the Gulf markets, where competition in community and event platforms is heating up. That said, I reckon the focus on local, grassroots communities could give it an edge… if execution stays sharp.

At Arageek, we often speak with early-stage founders who struggle to get people through the door of community events, even when the concept is solid. Believe it or not, the problem isn’t ideas, it’s discovery. Tools that genuinely solve that gap, rather than just adding more noise, are something many entrepreneurs here would be chuffed to bits to see working.

VidMatic Digital DMCC’s involvement also hints at how Declic might sharpen its advertising and discovery features over time, which could be crucial as it scales. On the flip side, the challenge will be keeping the platform human and community-first, not overly automated. Getting that balance right will definately be one to watch in the coming months.
